Sun's BBQ is great. Used to be called Sun Chiu Kee BBQ. Very busy place though and there are usually long lineups on weekends. Using the bathroom is inconvenient (and kinda gross). I haven't been there since the recent renovations so maybe they've remodelled/expanded the bathroom.

I'm heading to Ten Foot Henry next week. Any recommendations for what to order?

Roasted cauliflower, hanger steak, and butterscotch pudding are my favourites there.

Green bean dish is always good. Cheesy pasta if you're into that. Just about everything is good.

We had about 8 or 9 dishes and all desserts at Ten Foot Henry. Literally everything was amazing. I will definitely go back.

In fact the parents have not moved to the back ground and it is being run mainly by their son.

Asian restaurants seem to have longevity:

Just went to book something for valentine's day... ya, looks like I'm about a month late on that. Absolutely nothing. Whatever, usually the worst night of the year to to experience a good restaurant anyway.

Too good to get some drive-thru and do it twice.

They had a fire once, and kept the 1970s decor.

As someone who didn't grow up here, and has only gone to Tom's once, am I missing something? I found it pretty average on my one and only visit. But I would consider going back if it's an acknowledged Calgary fave. Well maybe not to the one on Macleod near Kingsland - that one looks scary.

Pizza Bob's used to be a Tom's, and makes the same kind of thin crust pizza still. 2610 Kensington Rd NW.

Somehow they fit bands and karaoke in there too. Owner is a known conspiracy theorist.

For a long time Tom's was the only thin-crust, low-cheese pizza you could get in town. When the only alternatives were thick crusts heaped with cheese, Tom's was different. And decent.
There's nothing special about the pizza today. But it's one of those places that survives on being an institution. They also have pretty good deals on pizza and beer that meet a price-point you won't find in fancier pizza places.

The Swiss Chalet restaurant on Memorial Drive East has been there since the late 70s. I know this because my parents would take my sister and I there as a reward if we've been good. Far East Foods on 17th Ave SE near Barlow Trail has also been there forever. I've never eaten there but I remember that distinctive sign from my childhood.
