When's the last time the Flames had any success in a trade clearly gave up the best player?

Take Hamilton away from Gio and he’s in trouble defensively. Brodie like decline and the offensive numbers won’t be there either. Ferland is too streaky a scorer which isn’t what the top line needs. And then he doesn’t fit anywhere else.
The Fox thing, meh, we will see the reasoning there.

Definitely makes the Flames deeper. If Hanifin can keep developing into a 40+ point dman and Lindholm can be a 50-60 point forward it is probably a win for the Flames.

Yeah it makes them deeper but it takes away a star defenseman.

Fox? And the best player?

Guess the Flames weren't sure they could sign the kid? Only explanation.

Not a fan at all at this point.

Fox may have signed may not have. Who knows. But I think they got what they needed to clear out the locker room. And now its clear as day that Lindholm will be the #1 RW unless FA drums something up.

This is actually looking worse than the Phaneuf trade.

Hanifin is going to be better than Hamilton, would have liked a 2nd/3rd coming back for what the flames game up

From speaking with Fox last year at the development camp, for what it's worth, he did not seem overly thrilled about the fact the Flames had Andersson, Kylington, and Valimaki in the fold. With him being a NCAA player, might have been a situation where he possibly would not have wanted to sign with that amount of competition.

I'm actually more sad that Ferland is involved than Dougie. Man I'm kinda hurting

Ferland I don't care about
Fox.. well CP is generally high on a lot of prospects and 90% they dont even become regulars (Poirier, Seiloff, Rienhart, Klimchuk, Baertschi)

I think Hanifin is closer in value to Dougie than some on here think.

That said I think we gave up a lot if the deal is as reported. Gonna wait until the final deal is reported.
