Strictly speaking I think the answer is 'Yes' as he is out of NHL contract, however I dont know how official that is considering that the NHLPA is supposed to be grieving his contract termination, so that might be a wrench in the works.

He will be transported to a quarantine facility right away once the plane lands for his "vaccine status", so what's the point to select him?

You forgot to add that the original graphics guy didnt make the cut.
He didnt make the team so they reverted to their first-string graphics design guy.

I'm honestly stoked for them.
A team of misfits and forgotten outcasts rounded up unexpectedly at a moments notice to represent their country on the highest stage of sports in a hostile foreign country that won't hesitate to throw you in a can if you sneeze.
May the infalible cloud grandpa bless these warriors. I can't wait to cheer them on.
Also Staal is a solid guy to lead them. Wonder if he's given the C?

Is that not every team other than China?

Lol, Josh Ho Sang became an olympian before Connor McDavid. Who would have saw that coming in 2015?

It's pretty hilarious that there is actually enough players for an entire "former Flames / Flame Draft Pick" team at this Olympics.
Knight - Street - Roman
Cervenka - Frolik - Granlund
Rieder - Wolf - Hrivik
Nordstrom - Agostino - Shore
Crackneel - Karnaukhov - Foo
Wotherspoon - Yelesin
Nesterov - Fantenberg
Diaz
Berra
Feels kind of telling on how the last 10 years of so of Flames hockey have went.
Although I'm slightly annoyed that Jagr isn't going...he should have been selected just because he's Jaromir Jagr.

Olympic hockey interest is at an all-time low with no NHL players, pandemic, and anti-China sentiment.
Come on, NHL. Step up and give us a proper World Cup of Hockey.

Nothing against these guys, I hope they do well.
However, I have zero interest in the outcome of the tournament or anything else in these Olympics. It’s that sickening that I think I’m done with the Olympics for good.

Hope Julien is OK. Appropriate that the coach is also a no name now.

Colliton was the Blackhawks coach for nearly three seasons. Not quite the name recognition of Julien but he fits into the mold of the team as a guy who played 50 or 60 games in the NHL and has coached for a brief period. Just stay off of any ice except for practices!

He turned 37 two weeks ago as well. "No name" maybe but he was way too young to take over for the Hawks at the age of 33. When he played he was always considered a smart player and leader.

Is there any indication Jagr actually wanted to go as a player?
