They still need to get one more forward signed prior to the expansion draft to meet the exposure requirements. I wouldn't be surprised if that ends up being Ryan on a smaller contract.

Not his game. A solid part of the bottom six if you have a few capable guys who can bring the physicality without Ryan having to do it.

Say... we should look into acquiring a guy like that.

Yeah who knows because he still has (2?) years after this one and we don't know if the coach and GM have clauses in their contracts if they get fired. They may not be quite on the payroll like we think.

I continue to be baffled by how much hate Derek Ryan gets on here. He instantly solidifies our 4th line no matter who he plays with, and chips in some solid offense given his role. He leads the team in goals against (per 60), and is second only to Tanev in expected goals against (per 60).

You are frustrated because that's not his game and never has been.
So you constantly asking him to be physical is like getting frustrated that Chris Tanev doesn't score enough goals.

Stephan Yelle was also not a particularly physical player.

He's a good defensive forward who plays a smart game and chips in.
He's not physical but uses positioning and stick work to check.

Nothing wrong with that.
