Looking back, I think it was Swift in the very first post that put me onto John Rogers (and also Joolz guides). Thanks!

Shift Alt X - for anyone into sci-fi/fantasy, I'd say a must.
Doug Demuro (cars)
Soft White Underbelly (interviews with random people)
Caspian Report (global politics)
Fermilab (quantum physics)

The rest is somewhat trashy:
Rose Anvil (he cuts boots in half to see what they are made of)
Hot Ones (celebrities eat hot wings)
DJVlad (interviews about current and past hip hop feuds)
Matty Matheson (cooks stuff and is funny)
Lui Marco (bodybuilding/fitness commentator, largely no longer active)
Zeeree (opens boxes of hockey cards)
LowkoTV (comments on Starcraft matches)
Hes Kicks (sneaker reviewer)
Emergency Awesome (Sci-fi TV/Movies)
Jacques Slade (sneakers)
WearTesters, Seth Fowler, Unbreakable Kicks, Mike Rich (also sneakers)

Posted about it before in the True Crime thread but my only YouTube subscription is That Chapter:

Spoiler!

I think recommendations do a good enough job, especially now that I found out you can say "not interested" and "don't recommend this channel" to further help the algorithm.

Some recent additions since my original post -

GeoWizard - was initially following him for his GeoGuessr videos, but he blew up huge with his "straight line mission" videos where he attempts to cross Wales in a straight line, and another recent one attempting to get from one town to another without walking down roads.

Beau Miles - very positive, motivational Australian guy making short films about running/hiking/kayaking and his life philosophies.

Jay Foreman - comedy videos about maps, London, UK etc

Jago Hazzard - bitesize videos about London history/infrastructure

NFB (National Film Board of Canada)

Adam Scovell - British filmmaker of wyrd, folk horroresque shorts (mainly following him just for new films, hasn't uploaded in a year)

Oversimplified (History)
Not Just Bikes (city planning - cyclist from London Ontario moves to Netherlands)
Oh The Urbanity (city planning - cyclists from Montreal move to Ottawa)
Climate Town (climate change)
Flatbush Cats (New York City cat rescue)

But almost half of my Youtube time is spent listening to people read stories from Reddit while I make dinner, or clean the house or fold laundry, etc.. Things like "Doctors of Reddit; What are the strangest ER cases you have ever seen?".

I too love those, they're short, and often witty enough for a good chuckle.

You can also get Youtube Premium dirt cheap if you have a VPN handy, since Google only looks at your IP address for determining your country and not payment method. My subscription is currently 17 Turskish Lira per month

I looked through a bunch of this thread but has anyone mentioned Steve1989MREInfo?

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2I...iMeHA/featured

He's this landscaper (or used to be) from Florida who opens super old army rations and eats them. It is super addictive to watch and very soothing. He has eaten stuff from WW1, WW2, Korean war and also does modern area rations as well. The highlights of his channel are when he takes the cigs from the WW2 rations and smokes them and then reviews them. He also opened up an old ration that included energy pills which were actually amphetamines from WW2. He didn't sample that unfortunately, lol.

I watch his videos fairly often. I agree something soothing about them.

Just wanna say that I've been watching a bunch of his videos recently and have subscribed. He seems like a really nice, wholesome kinda guy. It's very relaxing, low key stuff. I do laugh sometimes at how overly cautious and anxious he gets when trying to be inconspicuous from the police/public. What's the worst that's gonna happen? The cops say "move along"? It's usually public land he's on as far as I've seen.

I don't know if it's just Sliver and I who watch Steve Wallis, but this is a devastatingly sad video

I've been set back by this all day. My wife advised me to wait until after work to watch this video. I'm glad I waited.

I've been watching his videos for 2 years now. His videos feel therapeutic to me. I genuinely feel bad for him almost like a friend, as crazy as it sounds.

RIP Beautiful Wife

I saw that video in my recommendations and couldn’t watch it. I can’t imagine how he was able to record it.

On a lighter note, I’ve been enjoying Justin Hawkin’s channel. He has great insight on music, both good and (very, very, very) bad.
