Yeah, staying to take a video for the internet wouldn't be my reaction in that situation.
I'm certainly not an internet tough guy but is this just not a large monitor lizard? Yeah scary to us over here but super common in SE Asia, literally could not find recorded death from one, except for some idiot that had a six foot one as a pet and the bite became infected.
Definitely not on the same level as a bear or a mountain lion, i'd equate it more to a porcupine, don't want to get to close but if you do it will be unpleasant, death would be super duper rare at best.

Yeah, that's an Asian Water Monitor which is not generally dangerous to people. They are one of the fad reptile pets among serious reptile keepers.
The drunk cat is a little disturbing. I don't like to see people giving animals drugs or alcohol because the animal doesn't understand what's going on. Must be terrifying and possibly a little dangerous for the cat.

Yeah, alcohol can kill dogs and cats. It's a really stupid thing for a pet owner to do just for a few laughs.

Ah, I was thinking of the komodo dragon. But even those rarely kill people. Still the idea that they can charge people unprovoked is nightmare inducing.

The stories spread quickly across this smattering of tropical islands in southeastern Indonesia, the only place the endangered reptiles can still be found in the wild: Two people were killed since 2007 — a young boy and a fisherman — and others were badly wounded after being charged unprovoked.
Komodo dragon attacks are still rare, experts note. But fear is swirling through the fishing villages, along with questions on how best to live with the dragons in the future.

The drunk cat is hilarious. Human's aren't the only thing to like alcohol, there are plenty of videos and documented instances of animals getting drunk on fermenting fruit. Now what I find funny/cool is that cat's may naturally sometimes get drunk from their prey as Cats are obligate carnivores. Imagine a drunk cougar that ate a drunk deer.

That might be true but that doesn't mean that giving it to cats and dogs isn't stupid and irresponsible. Just like giving them chocolate.
In small doses it's effects are minor but if they ingest too much it can be lethal. So much so that they can suffer kidney failure within 12-24 hours.
Alcohol is terrible for cats/dogs and many other animals. It bothers me that some people still seem to think it is funny, especially when it is due to owner negligence like in that video. Accidents happen, but deliberately letting your cat ingest a toxic substance for a laugh is despicable and abuse.
