Went to Chairman's in Mahogany. Steak is not as good as Caesar's in Willow Park. Ambience - excellent. The appetizers and sides were top notch. Prices are high. We enjoyed it and would return, though if you are a steak purist, Caesar's is better. Honestly, kind of had a Vegas Strip restaurant vibe - for good or ill, depending on your preferences. I like Vegas.

This seems to be a familiar review.
Too rich for my blood.
We are hitting Mash for the first time Friday.

We're looking for great cocktails and a menu that has a decent selection. What are your favourites?

I made a recommendation for JinBar in the Pizza thread, but I'll do the same here.
JinBar is a Korean Fusion restaurant that serves fried chicken, pizza, and tacos, with a Korean twist. The chef is Chef Jinhee Lee from Top Chef Canada and Foreign concept. The menu isn't too large, but there definitely is a variety. My wife and I got a vegetable dish (Waldorf Salad); 1/2 lb of fried chicken, which is 4 pieces of boneless thigh (we got the Buldak "Dragon Breath" flavor); and a beef bulgogi pizza; plus 2 pints of the Jinbar Ale and the total came to ~$85 including tax and tip.
Our favorite was the pizza, even though the toppings were kind of out there, but the mix of Korean flavors on a pizza actually worked quite well. I love Korean food, and pizza separately, and never would have thought that it would pair so well together.
It's located on Edmonton Trail and Memorial Drive in the space where the former Italian restaurant used to be (the name of that place escapes me). It's just north of the Benevity Building. Really close drive/uber ride from the Zoo.

Il Sogno -> Whitehall -> Elwood and Rabbit -> Waalflower -> Jinbar.
I think this one will finally stick after making Air Canada's best restaurants list. I find their pizza crust isn't on the same level as dedicated pie shops like Posto, but the topping flavors are unique and tasty. I'm a fan of the corn and potato chips one myself, but personally I prioritize the fried chicken and tacos over the pizza. good to have options though.

Il Sogno had the best brown butter gnocchi I've ever had. It was lick the bowl good.

To complete the Vegas Experience after your Meal hit up Alvin's Jazz Bar. It has a really neat Vibe and is in the same complex.

I love how OpenTable says their reviews are more reliable because you actually have to have dined at the restaurant to give a review. Actually you only have to have made a reservation that the restaurant showed as seated. I have no doubt that many glowing reviews are by owners, family, staff or friends. Especially when you see a dozen 5-star reviews right after a 1-star review.

I would suggest that Vin Room has no business being on that list. Not a bad place to hang out with friends and have some decent wine/tapas, but from a quality of food perspective... I get that the list is based on reviews and essentially rates overall dining experience, but come on.

Based on the results, it would seem so, yes. Just as Flabbibulin said... Vin Room, while a nice lounge, is in no way a top 100 restaurant in Canada.
Calgary has a pretty solid restaurant scene for its size, but just based that, the math still doesn't suggest that we would have one quarter of the best restaurants in Canada. Since this is based on diner reviews, the only reasonable explanation (IMO) is that those diners are more generous.
