Good luck with your search for the card. I must have been super super lucky when I picked mine up. I think it was September and Memory Express had around 8-9 3080TIs in Calgary just sitting around. It seems like that was just a coincidence and not the norm.

I have a 1070 downstairs in a box since I got my 3070. Is there a market for used GPU these days?

There is, especially ones that have enough memory to mine Ethereum (like the 8GB 1070).

Just thought I’d share, I’ve been on the lookout for DDR5 ram to finally finish my build. I got to Calgary today for the flames game and called memory express and they had some even though the website indicated they were sold out! Wish everyone luck but keep calling for the parts you’re missing!

I finally broke down and bought a couple A6000 cards as I couldn't wait for stock of the 3080/3090's to catch up. Price wasn't bad at $5600 for that type of card. I am seeing 3090's close to that if you can find them.

I've seen them listed for close to $9K so under $6K I was ok with. 3080ti's can be $3K or $4K and way harder to find.

These were for VFX rigs and I wanted more vram and anything in the 24G range was impossible to get.

Are old 1080ti's, Titan V's or even Quadro 5000's worth anything? I have a bunch not doing anything. I should see if I can sell them.

I forgot about this link. I'm sure it's bunk but good lord.

With their still decent gaming and Ethereum mining performance, you could probably sell them for almost as much they were selling for back in 2017.

The Titan V should be worth a lot just on its very credible Ethereum hash rate and modest power consumption (thanks to HBM memory). The Quadros are probably too old other than for a collector.

For a fair price I’ll gladly take the 1080ti off your hands. Will be a decent upgrade on the 1050ti I’m running.

I'd also be interested in a 1080TI depending on price.

My wife got me $200 giftcard to Memory Express for xmas.

Wondering if doing something like this build will be enough to play Wow until I can get my hands on a video card at a reasonable price.

I know integrated graphics are terrible, but surely they are better than my old GTX 750 Ti.

I saw a few videos of a 5600G running WoW at 60FPS (at 1080p):

https://youtu.be/m0wrMA_LvGg?t=3883

What do you get now with the 750 Ti? I'm not sure it'd be any better than the 750 Ti.

If I were looking I'd at least be considering the i5-12600k. The on board GPU isn't as good as the AMD, but it's a better CPU (though a bit more $$ too), so a bit more future proof if the plan is to eventually get a better video card.

For that AMD build I've heard that the stock cpu fan isn't that great so maybe a better one? Could look at https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX74277 for budget or https://www.amazon.ca/Scythe-Ninja-C...+mugen+5+rev.b or https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX45777 for premium

CPU is a i7-920. It's about 11 years old now.

I have my settings turned way down to get a judder free 50 fps.

I thought that the Ryzen chips were far superior to anything Intel had. I'll take a look at the processor you suggested.

At this stage of the game, the AMD Ryzen and Intel options are going to take everything you can throw at them, so you should think about your plans for the future. Futureproofing is better with the Intel supporting PCI-E 5.0 and DDR5 for memory, while AMD's current Ryzen platform only supports PCI-E 4.0 and DDR4. AMD is due for an architecture refresh.

However, DDR5 is a bitch to buy right now and it's far more expensive than DDR4. So that's going to cost you. PCI-E 5.0 isn't used by much yet, but that'll change (and you'll pay for that, too).

Can you use DDR4 in a board that uses DDR5?

I will put some Intel options together when I get home and see what you guys think.

Nope, memory is a different animal. It's not like PCI-Express where you could use PCI-E Gen 3 devices in a Gen 4 slot and it would work.

One thing to keep in mind is that WoW is more CPU intensive than GPU. Just by upgrading your CPU and using your existing 750 Ti you'll see a pretty decent improvement at your current resolution.
Of course that assumes you don't plan on keeping the 750 Ti in the current machine.
