Edmonton was chosen?

More like pretty much the only option left that gave the NHL permission.

Agreed. And if they somehow manage to screw it up, Calgary is only a three hour quarantine bus ride away

That’s a good point. Would not surprise me if the league quietly told the Flames to have the Dome ready, just in case something does go sideways up there in some way, and they’d have to modify plans to play in an NHL rink quickly, without screwing up the scheduling.

At very worst, bus players to and from Edmonton until they could sort out things.

Toronto would have Ottawa as a similar backup plan (assuming they couldn’t cross the border with all those issues, to a much closer Buffalo)

Their fans don't get to go and the media will be severely limited so they won't get an opportunity to showboat about it, so yeah I will happily take the benefits for the province.

Pretty great that we have it all the way through the finals.

I don't disagree. if they really wanted Edmonton, it was clearly the safest choice a month ago. And from all accounts, this was a complete change in course at the last moment to try and save the season.
In the long-run, this probably reinforces players feelings about not wanting to spend months of time in Edmonton, making it harder for them to sign UFA's, So it's a win, win from a Calgary perspective.

But it bears repeating: BOTH locations are GOOD NEWS for the Flames—they own those towns: 3–1–1 in their last five in Edmonton and 2–0–1 in their last three visits to Toronto dating back to the beginning of 2018.
What’s their record playing the Jets in Edmonton?

Good point. Players will be sick of that dump by the end of it, UFAs won't touch the city with a 50km pole.

Have we heard if everyone is in town now? Quarantined or practicing or is anyone absent?
