I've suggested Wahlstrom a few times, but most think that the Isles will want to see what he (and others) can do under a new coach that's perhaps less defensive-minded. He's still young, and youth is very valuable in today's game.

Friedman was late to his radio hit, said he is chasing something down…..wonder which star forward we are getting for 25% of cap hit for a 3rd and 4th

Philadelphia close to re-signing Sanheim to an extension in the $6M range as per Friedman.

In typical Oilers fashion. There was an article about how the Oilers were selling player Jerseys that have never played for the team.
Rumors had it where they were going after a few players and had already made jerseys to sell in store but the deals never came through and they were stuck with those jerseys.. LOL.

WHAT.
Im so glad we got that weegar contract signed. There are some absolutely STUPID things happening with GMs lately. Sanheim is fine, just two years ago philly thought so little of him that he was a frequent potential trade throw in... He's no where near a 6 million/year defender today IMO. Has he bulked up significantly?

Zadina not in the starting lineup for Detroit, could he work here in our top 9?

Young but has to clear waivers and is owed $1.8M for 3 more years.
With a career high of 10 goals I am not sure that he would move the needle.
Maybe if Valimaki had not gotten claimed it could have been a swap.
Now, I dont see it.

I do not see how Valimaki getting claimed affects potential Zadina trade. Zadina has actual trade value, Valimaki did not

Fair enough, I think he is worth at least a 3rd, he is still only 22 and had good international showings. But ya idk if I would trade a 3rd for him, especially since I think Pelletier is a better option on the 3rd line

I'd take a crack at Zadina. There's a lot of skill underneath the surface.

Zadina has one major issue that I feel would prevent him from cracking this line up. His GAF is low unless the pucks on his stick and creating. I'd still take a shot at him on the Flames though in the hopes that Sutter could ignite the kid.

Sutter couldn't motivate Milano, and training camp is over.

Could be a Huselius... Similar things said about them.
But yeah, doesn't seem like Treliving's type of move.

Is everyone talking Zadina simply because he's out of the Detroit lineup? Or was the basis of this chatter corroborated during a radio show?

Well the Patrick Kane train has started chugging in the rumor mill. I'm not going to link anything because I am lazy and you are all good at the internet.
Lebrun wrote in the Athletic this morning that Patrick Kane is essentially going the Claude Giroux route this year. He wants to stick around Chicago to see if they are going to be any good this year, if they are not, he is willing to be traded and Chicago is willing to retain half of his salary.
This morning on TSN Craig Button runs with it and gives his list of best fits for Kane. Who is number 1 you ask? Calgary of course. (Obviously just Button's specualtion at this point)
Now we all know that Kane would have zero desire to sign with Calgary and the Flames don't have the cap for it. So it would be a pure rental. Given that Calgary is likely to be a contender this season, I think Calgary would be in the mix for a team that he would be willing to go to for a few months in the spring.
Personally, I don't see it happening due to the cost to acquire him, and the fact that he would be a pure rental. Also there are American teams out east that will be contenders that he may be willing to sign with that could be willing to pay a lot of futures to acquire.
Don't really see it happening at all for Calgary, but its fun to get the rumor mill churning.

Hey, this is a dream. Don't ruin it!
Imagine Lindholm centering Huberdeau and P.Kane. That would be watched and observed for the hockey history books. I'd be totally cool with giving away a 1st round pick ++ to see this happen even if only for half of the season.
