reposting: Shootouts are always lame way to end a hockey game. Flames looked great and completely outplayed the bruins. Fun comeback. Flames were definitely the better team. Halak stole this one. More entertaining than all of last year. Lots to be happy about!
Sleep well, friends.

Meh, Boston wins the game of HORSE after the 3-3 final.
Hard to be discouraged by that game though. Flames looked real good!
Okay, Benadryl time. Nite.

The new guys all played great. Czarnik is exciting. I see why they went for Ryan. Can’t wait for the season to start.

I thought Gio, Gaudreau, Monahan, Czarnik, Ryan, Brodie and Hanafin looked good.
Kulak was sloppy. Frolik could've been sharper. Gillies was weak in the first, but redeemed himself. Bennett looked the same as last year.
Overall, things do look pretty promising. A lot more skill up and down the lineup this year.

Loved the movement on the PP. Loved the high-paced play. Loved Brodano. Loved all the new guys.
Does anyone still think that Peters is just another Gulutzan?
This is a really good team.

Bill Peters love him some Derek Ryan. That drove Canes fans crazy. Could see it getting the ire of some of the fans in Calgary too.

This 12:30am first pre-season game was more fun and exciting than the vast majority of regular season games last year.
Really impressed with Czarnik, Ryan, and Hanifin. Didn't see enough of Neal quite yet, but he still had a couple really nice plays (no-look pass to Czarnik, give and go with Ryan come to mind).
Brodie and Gio looked great together once again. Hanifin and Hamonic looked solid while Noah's skating is going to be a lot of fun. Kulak and Stone did not look good.
Our PP and PK both looked miles better strategically than under the last coaching staff's direction. I love the quick downlow to slot passing on the PP that lead to Monahan's goal but almost clicked a couple other times as well.
Oh, and Tkachuk's shootout goal made my pants tight.
So much to like already!

Hopefully this means we see the emergence of guys like Andersson, Mangiapane, and Dube to supplant Kulak, Hathaway, and quite possibly Bennett.

After watching that awesomely entertaining game I'd like to see this modified lineup next game:
Gaudreau - Monahan - Czarnik
Frolik - Backlund - Neal
Tkachuk - Bennett - Lindholm
Klimchuk - Jankowski - Ryan
Gio-Brodie
Hanifin-Hamonic
Kulak-Andersson
Smith

I'm guessing it will take a while to get rid of the no look back pass on the powerplay stink of Gulutzan with these guys.
Would like to see less perimeter play, and more net presence.

Why would you put Bennett at center, I'd switch him and Ryan in that lineup and keep Stone but not kulak

The team was rock solid outside of the third pairing and in goal.
They came at the Bruins in waves.
Czarnik and Ryan look to have chemistry together, are lightning fast and bring more skill than most people were likely anticipating. They were arguably the best of the newcomers. Talk about a pleasant surprise.
Lindholm is really good. Great at holding on to the puck. Neal looks opportunistic and can set up plays at a high level too.
Bennett and Janko can make a very good 4th line, especially if they take another step.
Monahan is an absolute beast. Gio hasn't lost a step. And Brodie looks solid on the right side, no scary moments from him. Just carrying the puck well. We saw 2015 Brodie tonight (thank goodness).
Hanifin doesn't have the offensive game of dougie (yet) but skates the puck better I think. Just more possession added to a team that looks like it'll have the puck a lot. Drawing 8 penalties (though small sample size) is an indication of that.
Bill Peters shortened the bench and used a time out (!?!) resulting in the flames tying the game. That's really all that needs to be said to inject hope into the hearts of the faithful.
This season is going to be fun.

Halak was a beast in goal and the difference maker through 3 periods. Covered the lower part of the net well and stymied the Flames on many occasions.
Liked what I saw from Czarnik on the PP. Has good hands and a great shot.
Derek Ryan looked good on the PP and on the line with Frolik and Czarnik. Could be a nice addition this season.
Gillies struggled in the first period and at times looked lost on the bigger ice surface. Settled in and made some timely saves in the last 2 periods.
Forwards gave up too many odd man rushes to the Bruins. The defence at times got caught pinching also.
Flames dominated on the bigger ice surface and were able to cycle the puck and make some nice passes and plays in the Bruins end.
The PP looks to be a work in progress. I thought there was too much over passing and players looking for the perfect play/shot.
Lindholm seems to be a good fit on the top line. Made some nice plays and came close to potting a few goals
Over all I liked what I saw.

Awesome getting to see the Flames live in China. That game definitely got me feeling excited for the season. Liked the look of the new players and most liked the fact that they came back the way they did. That is so much better than what it was the last couple of seasons.
