Based on what I can guess about your tastes, you're gonna have a bad time. Kudos for maintaining this thread and having an open mind.

I don't typically agree with Pitchfork's lists (or have listened to enough music to have a real opinion), but this year's top 10 is bang on what I would expect from them.

Most of the albums I would have in my Top 5 you guys have already said but I didn't see this one anywhere. Definitely in my Top 5 for the year.

This list in general isn't really to my taste but this one really sticks out as it is one of my most hated songs of 2017. It is an auto-tuned lowest common denominator piece of ear cancer pop music crap.

Pitchfork was responsible for exposing Charli XCX to North American audiences and turning her into a breakout star so I think Pitchfork will always be partial to Charli XCX and vice versa. And Charli XCX has bonafide DIY indie cred, so that's another reason why I'm not surprised to find her on this list. And I can understand why people may not like Boys, but I find it really catchy with a great accompanying video.

I liked that one too - buried somewhere in my long list.

I was asked to narrow my album list down to 10:

Forgot my actual favorite album - Cafe Tacvba, Jei Beibi

Jesus, I just listened to that Jason Isbell album despite the fact that it came out months ago and I'm a big fan but it might be his best work yet. He's on quite the hot streak at the moment. Three really good albums all in a row.

Anyone listen to the new Eminem album? I took a first spin, and it's probably his most disappointing effort. I know he has a cult following, including me, but the guy has no political credibility considering his music is all in jest and for shock value. Why he chose to make a political album is ridiculous and just a bad business move. There are some creative beats on there, but not enough Dr Dre as the production on first listen has been pretty mediocre.
