Default Free/Cheap Email Hosting

I want to activate some email addresses I have for domains I own, but keep them separate from the hosting of the websites.

I might switch around who hosts my websites, but want the email to remain consistent so I don't have to change anything.

Any recommendations for good services that can be accessed through any web browser, and also work well through outlook/mail/iphone/BB?

Does Google Apps (Free version) not offer this?

The new goggles also do nothing.

Yup, Google Apps does this. I've moved a couple of emails for domains over to Google, works great. Have a few more to do. Was getting so tired of crappy email service and being black listed because shared hosting providers can't police their own servers.

just a quick question: how does this work with having your host do the web hosting, and using the same domain have the email use the google aps?

edit - nevermind figured it out, not too bad. Trying it out on one of my domains right now. Seems pretty easy to set up and hopefulyl better to manage.

I'll second (or third) that Google Apps is the best thing around for this, IMO. I set up all my clients on it for email hosting.
