I thought "Ah. 40 PIM. Toughness for the farm."
Then I realized I was looking at the wrong column.

#Flames were really impressed with Glenn Gawdin in Penticton. Was talk of offering a contract then. He’s 20, a right-handed. Plays centre.

Nice. He's definitely not as good as his statline makes him out to be but I've been impressed with him every time I've seen him play.
Good hockey name too.

Nice signing. Looked really good in Penticton.
Gotta be careful not to get excited about his numbers though. He ranks third in the WHL in points, yes, but his two linemates (Steenbergen and Heponiemi) are ranked 1st and 2nd.
He's not nearly as good offensively as either of them but he's clearly trusted by his team as he ranks 2nd (Heponiemi is 1st) in even strength ice time per game at 24 minutes and plays on the #1 PK unit I believe whereas Heponiemi and Steenbergen are only on the PP. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong though

Prospects sitting 3rd and 4th in the WHL scoring race are both members of the #Flames organization.

Awesome! I've been watching his stats over this season and was hoping the Flames would sign him at the end of the season, this is a nice surprise.

Most likely a career minor leaguer, but might as well give him a shot.

Good signing. From watching him play over the summer, and some WHL games, I think he'll be a physical, defense-minded bottom sixer if he ever makes it (which isn't a bad thing). He seems to take pride in playing well in his own zone, and doesn't seem to have upper echelon offensive ability. Pretty good size, and a good skater.

Yeah, I like that if you're going to take a small gamble on one of your contracts it might as well be with someone who is lighting it up. Plus the team knows this guy pretty well by now. I like it.

Shinkaruk, Poirier, Klimchuk, Carroll, and Hunter Smith are all RFA's next year. Will need some replacements for Stockton if some/all not qualified or re-signed next year. Hope he continues to develop.

Flames have the contract room, and you can't teach offence. Maybe it translates, maybe it doesn't, but he sure seems like he had other attributes that enable him to have a legitimate shot at an NHL career. Great signing. He should at least provide Stockton with some offence for the next few years, which only helps to develop other prospects anyways.
