You know he wasn't on the ice for a single goal against today but was on for 2 PPG in regulation, yes?
Also got the assist on the game winner but was technically not on the ice, as he was going off after he passed the puck - you could see Gio coming on moments before the GWG.

Brodie has become a serious problem. I really don’t know what the issue is, but he’s nowhere close to the player he was three years ago. I’d honestly take Kulak on the second pairing over Brodie right now.

He plays his best hockey in conference games and playoff games IMO as he has a better internal scouting report. He idea that he needs a night off is just sendationalism at its finest.
That said we are misusing him. He is not a shooter yet we have him manning PP1 as the point option. He is a great skater and elite stretch passer yet we have him playing D-to-D with Hamonic and making 10 foot passes to our wingers. He is incredibly deceptive and accurate on his backhand yet we have him play his strong side where he telegraphs plays more often.

I disagree with the first half of your post. The Detroit game was not the beginning of TJ’s defensive struggles this season. For that matter, I think you could legitimately argue that the Detroit game was more unfortunate for him than anything. But he has been positionally disorganized for several games this season. It is unlike him, which is why several of us have pointed it out.
Having said that, I agree with the second half of your post. I think he has been charged with a number of tasks that have taken him out of his comfort zone. Because of his skill level, I expect that the coaching staff see him as being the guy to step up and anchor the second pairing, like Gio does for the first, which is why they broke them up in the first place. However, I wonder what might happen if they reunited him with Gio for a bit, just to allow him a reset and to regain confidence.

Right now Brodie is operating at maybe 50% and thats being generous.

I would take less offense from Brodie for less brain farts.

Or our coach could try that coaching thing, and talk to Brodie about simplifying his game instead of forcing things. Won't hold my breath on that one.

Based on his ice time I suspect the coaching staff is in love with him and have been encouraging him to play he's been playing lately.

Which is the scary part. What are they seeing that we are not, or conversely what the heck is it about the constant turnovers that they cant see
I love Brodie, but man, simplify and let the offense come naturally.

Just as importantly though is the scrappy factor. That Elliott chirp is the perfect example of the sort of game-within-the-game stuff that Versteeg brings that can help to get another team irritated and off their game. Still not unhappy with Steeger at all on that contract.

Why do you guys think it was Versteeg who said #### you Elliott?
It's a lot more likely it was a Flyers fan...
Or am I missing something?

Versteeg had his head turned toward Elliott and not Mony (who had tipped it in for the goal) when that chirp was heard. Plus, he seems to be the type to get in some wicked zingers on former teammates especially if he believes it'll knock them off their game (which, with Moose it totally did)

Considering Elliott was the one who #### away Versteegs awesome but now waisted performance in the playoffs last year he may not like him very much.
It may of been a blessing in disguise though, without his awful play we probably bring him back, clearly he's not that good of a starting goalie. Guess it was a good thing

If this Flyer fan said this without knowing about "Boring Monahan" that is just hilarious.
