I like the sound of this.
And while he remains undecided about the 2012-13 season — maybe Providence, but probably Dubuque — the idea of pro hockey is already on his mind.
“If I have a chance to leave college early and step in and make an impact in the NHL,” Jankowski said, “then I’m ready to do it.”

Didn't he say his name was pronounced jan cow ski in an interview? Or maybe I am imagining things.

Mark has such dirty hands. And great patience with the puck from what I saw yesterday. And so far today.

I thought he had some of the best hands on the ice today. I still think he is still 2-3 years away from dominating at development camp. Most of his passes were into the skates and he needs another 20 pounds. He also seems really tentative. I can think of some worse shortcomings for a 17 year old.
After watching Jankowski today, I can see why the Flames picked him. Unbelievable skill.

Kerr interview with Jankowski on the Flames site this morning that also includes some footage of him in drills and scrimmage:
This was my first chance to see him on the ice, and based on the very limited viewing, he doesn't look out of place at all.

Just saw this story on the Flames website where they are interviewing Jon Gillies and it had this to say about Jankowski
Quote:
Mark Jankowski has also committed to Providence and Gilles has been spending a lot of time with the Flames 2012 first round pick this week.
"Mark and I good friends so I've been trying to push him to come in this year but I think he's going to Dubuque for a year so I wish him the best of luck."

Talks about how the tempo of the game and the grind every shift is his biggest notice. Also, for any creepers, they're all going to Stampede tonight.

Fellow Flames Prospects Weigh In On Jankowski on the FAN960 Morning Show
Laurent Broissoit and Sven Baertschi were both interviewed this morning on the Fan960 morning show (approx. 8:15a.m.) and had a bit to say about Jankowski.
Of relevance to this thread, both players were asked who has impressed them the most at the prospect development camp. Baertschi replied that Johnny Gaudreau and Jankowski "were fun to watch", but he was roomates with Johnny Gaudreau so perhaps he was obliged to mention him, but interestingly mentioned Jankowski as well.
As for Broissoit, he said from a goalie's perspective it was Jankowski and Ty Wotherspoon as the most impressive. It was implied that he had a longtime friendship with Wotherspoon growing up as kids, so it seemed natural to for him to boost Wotherspoon. As for Jankowski, Broissoit stated that he's very skilled, and as a goalie it's hard to get a read on which direction Jankowski is going to move in. For instance, he said quite often Jankowski would shift in one direction and would deke the other way when Broissoit bit on the fakes. He implied that the skill was obvious, and took his observations to another level, when he went out of his way to state "you can see why Jankowski is GOING TO BE A FRANCHISE player". He could have left his assessment at the point that Jankowski was talented, but you could tell he wanted to be emphatic on his point with the franchise tag. I still haven't been out to observe Jankowski at camp, but that's now two different people, one from management (Feaster) and the other a goalie (Broissoit), that are claiming Jankowski will not only make it, but will be a FRANCHISE player. Also, regarding Broissoit's take on Jankowski, it sounded like he was genuinely enamoured by his skill level, nor did Andrew Walker try to elicit a response on Jankowski by leading his questioning.
*this is just an account of what was stated, not a matter of my own opinion, thanks*

Saw some video of him deking and puckhandling and I got to say his skill was obvious and his skating actually looked really good.
Very exciting prospect. I've been waiting for the Flames to draft a big, skilled centre in the first round for almost 20 years.
