The Denver airport is the only airport I have missed a connection. D=NG
Me too!
I arrived almost on time for a tight connection, and sat for 15-20 minutes waiting for the gate crew. Finally got off, ran from one of those off concourse shed gates (for the twin prop planes), sprinted all the way across the concourse to my second plane’s gate, which was pretty much clear across the airport, only to arrive at the window and see the bridge slowly retracting from my plane.
Mind you the ~three hour layover coincided with a complete Flames game which I watched at an airport bar and the Flames won.
For the 1st time (2 years working here), I wore a hat to work. It was a Flames cap. Not one person said anything. 200+ people in my company, 1000+ in the complex.
Unless I'm at my kids hockey, nobody comments if I wear any Flames swag.
Although the same could be said for the Nuggets. If I didn't know any better, I'd say they are not based here either.
No surprise. Little different sports landscape in most US cities. In Denver, you have MLB season starting, the Nuggets sitting 2nd in the west and DU being in Frozen Four (minor story, granted).
As much as Denver is a bit of a winter sports city, hockey has nowhere near the prominence it does in some more eastern cities like Chicago, Philly, Detroit etc. from what I can tell.
The Avs would need to at least win one round to get some more attention in Denver.
I went to a CFL football game once with a guy who moved up from Colorado and worked in sports media for a period of time in Denver.
He told me that at the height of the Raiders/Broncos rivalry (in the 80's? I'm not sure) he witnessed Broncos fans hang a Raiders fan dangling by his ankles over the side of the bleachers at Mile High Stadium.

Their No Goodness is probably bottomless.
To be fair, it was a Raiders fan. He probably stabbed someone first or something
