Demetrios Koumontzis had a goal, 2 assists and was +3 in today's win.

He is currently 3-2-5, EV in 7GP this season.

Josh Nodler picked up an assist last night in a 3-1 loss.

Nodler, Mattson and Koumontzis are all back in action tonight.

Nice feed from Nodler for another assist tonight. Nice to see him earn trust of coach to be out in last minute trying to tie game up. We may have a keeper here.

Mattson invisible in a bottom six role. Don’t hold out much hope that he will make it.

No points for Koumontzis in a pair of games this weekend.

MSU had their games postponed so no news for Nodler or Mattson.

UConn played a couple games this week but Kuznetsov was not playing due to being in Russia's camp for the World Juniors.

2 assists this "weekend" for Koumontzis, with one yesterday as well. He had no points in the first 4 games of the season, so he actually has 8 points in his last 8 games played. He's tied for second on the team in points.

ASU is now done until the New Year.

MSU is back in action tomorrow and Sunday at Notre Dame. Tomorrow's game is on TSN Streaming at 4:30pm MT.

Two primary assists for Nodler tonight, including one on the game-tying goal for MSU with just 22.9 seconds to play.

He's up to 6 assists in 8 games. Still looking for his first goal. And his offense is probably being hurt a little bit by playing on a relatively weak MSU team.

According to my colleague Pike, we can now add Jake Boltmann to the list of the Flames' NCAA prospects — he's joining Notre Dame immediately.

Boltmann had no points in 6 games played this season with Lincoln. They had a number of games cancelled and were off to a poor start with a 1-4-1 record in those 6 games.

So far, Notre Dame has a 4-5-1 record after 10 games. They have a generally older line-up, with a lot of Junior (3rd year) players on their roster. They only have one freshman defenceman other than Boltmann.

Their next game is January 9 against ASU, so he'll get some time to practice with his new team before they play again.

Since Notre Dame is in the Big 10 and ASU is playing all of its games this season against the Big 10, all of the Flames NCAA prospects are playing in the same Conference except for Kuznetsov (who is in Hockey East).

MSU returned from their Christmas break last week against Penn State. They were shutout on Sunday and won on Monday, 5-1. Mattson had one assist in the game and Nodler had none.

This weekend was a home and home series against Michigan. They got blown out last night 9-0, but won on Saturday 3-2. As seen above, Nodler scored the GWG in the final minute of the game and had an assist on their opening goal in the first minute of the game.

As mentioned above, Koumontzis has not played the last two weeks for ASU. They haven't won a game yet in 2021. This weekend, they are playing Jake Boltmann and Notre Dame. Boltmann made his NCAA debut Saturday night in ND's 5-4 win over ASU. He got his name on the game sheet with a penalty, but did not contribute to the scoring.

ND and ASU play again on Sunday.

Yan Kuznetsov has returned to UConn after being away for the World Juniors. Unfortunately, the team had a positive COVID test and cancelled this week's games, so Kuznetsov will have to wait another week to get back into the swing of things.

For the first time in a long time, we're going to see a "normal" weekend of NCAA action for the Flames prospects.

After missing 2 weeks for "undisclosed" reasons, Koumontzis is set to return to ASU's lineup this weekend as they visit Wisconsin. He is currently 5th on the team in points with 8 (3G/5A) in 12 games played.

Kuznetsov should finally make his post-World Juniors return this weekend as UConn plays a home-and-home set against New Hampshire.

Boltmann made his NCAA debut last week, playing in both of Notre Dame's games (he took a penalty in each game, and was otherwise kept off the score sheet). This week, the Fighting Irish visit Minnesota.

MSU visits Penn State this weekend. The two teams met 2 weeks ago in East Lansing and split the 2 games. Nodler currently leads the Spartans with 8 points (1G/7A) in 12 games. Mattson has 4 points (2G/2A) in 12 games, which is tied for 7th on the team.

----------

TSN's digital stream will be carrying both of ASU's and Notre Dame's games this weekend. They both play tonight at 6:00pm MT and on Saturday, the ND game is at 4:00pm MT and the ASU game is at 6.

Yan Kuznetsov is having a decent season so far. He missed some games due to the WJC but he had 2 assists today and is 1-4-5 in 7 games so far.

I really like the Kuznetsov pick. He might be ready before his college career is up.

It sounds like there was a crazy ending to the ASU vs. MSU game this afternoon.

ASU led 2-1 when time expired and seemed to have the win locked down. Then, they reviewed a potential MSU goal scored with just over a minute left. Upon review, it was a good goal and a tie game, with time put back on the clock.

Then, ASU scored with 40 seconds left when play resumed, and they ended up winning 3-2.

Nodler got an assist on the reviewed tying goal. No points for Koumontzis on the other side. It looks like Mattson was scratched for the first time this season (I don't know if he is hurt or if it was a healthy scratch).

The 2 teams play again tomorrow.

Catching up with the other guys:

Notre Dame played 2 game against Minnesota this weekend and were shutout in both games. Boltmann has yet to score his first college point, but he has never been a big offensive player. The good news for him is that he has played in every Notre Dame game since joining the team in January.

UConn's regular season seems to be over, along with the rest of Hockey East. They will be holding a modified tournament to determine the conference champion in March. Kuznetsov has 1 goal and 4 assists in 11 games played this year.

Well, it looks like all of the Flames' prospects have seen their seasons come to an end.

The Conference playoffs started this weekend, but all of the teams with Flames prospects lost and were eliminated. None of the teams were likely strong enough to get an at-large invite to the NCAA tournament.

Since ASU doesn't play in a conference, their season actually ended last week. They played their full season on the road and finished with a 7-16-3 record. Koumontzis played in 22 of their 26 games and finished with 4 goals and 6 assists.

MSU finished their season with 7 straight losses, including a 2-1 OT loss to Minnesota on Sunday in the Big-10 tournament. Their final record was 7-18-2. Nodler played in all 27 games and finished the season with 3 goals and 8 assists. His 11 points was third-highest on the team, only 2 back of the leader. Mattson missed every game the Spartans played in February (I assume due to injury, but it's hard to find that info for the NCAA), but did make it into 21 total games. His 2 goals and 2 assists were both career highs for him.

UConn saw their season end with a loss to Providence in the Hockey East tournament. They ended with a 10-11-2 final record. Kuznetsov finished with 1 goal and 5 assists in 16 games played.

Notre Dame's season came to a surprising end with a 6-3 loss to Penn State on Sunday in the Big 10 tournament. The Irish end their season with a record of 14-13-2. Boltmann has still not scored his first NCAA point, but most-importantly for him, he played in every game Notre Dame played since he joined the team in January.

----------

So, that puts a wrap on a very weird 2020-21 NCAA Hockey season for the Flames prospects. The NCAA tournament starts two weeks from now, with the Frozen Four starting on April 8 in Pittsburgh.

All of the prospects we've been following this year are still eligible for another season in the NCAA, and I wouldn't expect any of them to sign with the Flames this summer.

Feels impossible to get any real evaluation on these prospects this year. Maybe some minor improvements? Their teams didn't do them any favours as all of them were mediocre to outright bad.

Still not loving the Kuznetsov and Boltmann picks.

D prospects with low offensive ceilings just seems like such a waste of a draft pick, especially in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

I still like Kuznetsov-6pts in 16 games is still pretty good for a 19yo D playing college, and he was drafted to be more of a two-way puck moving guy anyway. I was a bit upset that guys like Sebrango, Niemela, Hunt, Cormier, and Viro were left on the board for D-men in order to take him though.

I still have no clue what they were thinking with Boltmann-if they liked him so much, they could've probably taken him later. Joni Jurmo was taken 2 spots later, which may come back to bite us in a few years. I don't see his allure now, and I didn't see it on draft day.
