I expect Djanko to be pretty dominant at this development camp. He looks bigger and more solid. It will be his best chance to prove he belongs in our prospects pool.

Bumping this thread because I don't think we've finished talking about Jankowski quite yet. I have a feeling the tone of this discussion will be much different than the last time it was visited..
To re-iterate AC's comments, I believe in Janko.

If by some unpredictable impossible off-chance Jankowski in the NHL fully lives up to draft predictions comparing him to guys like Neiuwendyck and Spezza... Does he really end up our #3 Center or does he push the other two guys (Monahan/Bennett) to a different role?

I suspect Bennett will be a winger for most of his career.

I think with how good he is in the dot and his size, he pushes Backlund to wing. So we could roll Backlund - Janko - Frolik or something on the 3rd line and have Arnold take over for Stajan so we'd have two very good faceoff guys in the bottom 6.

Our highest drafted player ever that has the highest ceiling off any of our players and was drafted as a center?
I'm not sure what's happening on CP but since the draft everyone has been pretty down on Bennett. The guy is a gamer and has the potential to better than both the golden children. (Monahan and Gaudreau)

Someone quoted something like 58% in college. That's great, but I don't take it for granted that means he's going to do the same at a higher level. Is there such a thing as an NHLe for faceoff percentage?
For example, what was Monahan's faceoff percentage in junior? Or Backlund's? Or perhaps a guy like Jooris who played college (and has struggled on faceoffs in the NHL).

Stamkos was drafted as a centerman, he plays right wing.
It's not out of the ordinary.

The fact that Jankowski has continued to improve and cannot yet be labeled a bust makes me feel as though a little more credit could be given to Feaster et al. for this pick. He may not be the best player in that draft, as stated by Feaster at the time, but he has managed to progress towards looking like an NHL player.
This was always going to be a long-term project and you can judge the pick all you want, but it's hard to dispute what Janko has done between the draft and now to get himself prepared to make this team next year.

I'm not sure why you interpret this as being down on him or what this has to do with his draft position. Or CP. All of Bennett's skills that made him a 4th overall and top prospect aren't necessarily the same things that make a player a great centre. Plenty if not most top forwards are drafted as C but convert at the NHL level. Iginla was drafted at C.

He's mostly been a centre since being drafted. He was put on the wing after his leg injury, and then moved to centre again this season, until the Montreal series, when he played RW.
