So Mattsson changes his number after Jagr is signed (confused...) Happens all the time in pro soccer

Seems that Jagr is 6'3" and Mattsson is 6'4". They are about the same height, likely wear the same sized jersey. Rip off Mattsson's nameplate and replace it with Jagr. Simple! Lol

Because I feel like out of all the possible numbers they could've given Mattsson, they chose to give him 68. Either to debunk these rumors, or troll us as fans. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it makes me wonder why they would assign him that number if signing Jagr is a high possibility.
Ryan Pike @RyanNPike 31s
Adam Ollas Mattsson has worn 68 at development camp in each of the past three summers. It has nothing to do with Jaromir Jagr. #Flames

It's more of a slightly different translation, isn't it? It does confirm Calgary's interest and they both have the poker metaphor.
The first translation makes it seem like negotiations are ongoing and the poker metaphor was in the context of negotiations with the Flames.
The Edmonton Journal translation makes it sound like the Flames were interested at one point but nothing about if that continues. The context of the poker metaphor in that version was in relation to contract negotiations in general and not specifically the Flames.
I would bet that Treliving has told Jagr that the Flames are definitely interested in him if they can fit him in their cap space, which they won't know exactly until they get Bennett signed - and it seems like Jagr is willing to be patient as well.
This looks like a job for our man in Czechia, calgaryboy.
Jagr spoke generally, not specifically about negotiating with Flames.
It was an interview with the most popular Czech PBP guy Robert Zaruba on a national TV here in CR. Zaruba mentioned Calgary several times. It looks like something really is going on, but we will see.....

Yeah the likely 4 or 5 of them at home, He's done, he's slow, plays zero defense and looks like he could care less about winning really, for him it shouldn't be about the money but I suspect it is, please stay away and give the job to a youngster
