Getting a low main roster number, shows the expectations by the management

While I'm sure management has expectations and is clearly high on the kid, let's not forget that 6 belonged most recently to Brandon Davidson. The number doesn't mean anything necessarily.

Brandon Davidson was an NHL player, albeit a fringe one. 174 GP, 28 years old, no reason that guy should be wearing a WR number.
Giving 6 to a guy you signed three months ago means they think highly of him.

The expectation according to the pundits before he signed with us was that he would be in the NHL at some point in 20-21. It's been talked about since he became Flames property by various media as well, even by Tre IIRC.

By expectations, it is more that he is expected to compete for a spot on the main roster, as opposed to a high double digits number that is usually given to prospects who join for training camps.

I see this as a plan to pencil him into the 6 spot. Is he a left or right D?

Didn’t the Red Wings run 6 LHD in the mid 90s?

I was surprised with how old he is. He's almost 24 already so there likely is not a lot of physical development required. Maybe some time to get used to the speed of the game.
Hopefully the officials don't mistake him for Dennis Wideman.

Lindholm is apparently flying back to Calgary tomorrow.
Not sure if Johnny or Tkachuk are back in town yet, I don't think I've seen them mentioned yet by the team.

Here's the player I'm expecting to show more than anyone has expected....i hope he does his best Peter Forsberg impression because I know he has it in him .
I don't think he gets the respect or attention he deserves.

Tkachuk worries me. Blues players have had positive covid tests. If he was skating in St. Louis he probably was skating with some Blues players.
Also if Lindholm flies in tomorrow, he probably can’t start skating till July 18th or so (14 day quarantine)

Four players on the St. Louis Blues and one member of the coaching staff tested positive for COVID-19 over the last couple of weeks, a source told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Jim Thomas.
The players may have been exposed to the coronavirus at a bar in Clayton, Missouri, where several members of the team congregated over a week ago, according to Thomas. One player reportedly tested positive just days after that gathering.
It is not known whether those who tested positive were experiencing symptoms.

Not sure which thread to put this in, so I'll just put it here. Sounds like the western teams will be playing in Edmonton, while all of the eastern teams will play in Toronto. So both the Oilers and Leafs will indeed be playing in their home rinks.
Normally this would piss me off, but with no fans in the buildings and the teams being forced to stay in hotels, I guess there's no real advantage for either of those teams...thank god.

Yeah, as long as they're not given exclusive use of their own dressing room or training facilities, it shouldn't be an issue.
The only advantage the Oilers will have is that they're used to the smell. Of course, playing hockey in Edmonton in the summer is as much a foreign concept to the Oilers as it is to anyone else.

They absolutely should not be getting to use their dressing room either. Home/away will dictate that. It’s considered a “Neutral Site”.

Makes logistical sense, to have teams crisscrossing the continent even if it’s to go into the hub city bubble, seems a bit extreme just so that a the couple hub teams don’t have familiar surroundings (full assumption that they don’t have their own dressing room or preferential access).
This is far down the list, but wonder about uniforms too. Assume the Flames go retro red, but is there a need to change up home and away during a series? Flames wear red, Jets blue, for all games. Saves the equipment guys from washing multiple sets of jerseys, helmet and socks etc, and they will already have hands and time full with all the extra precautions and sanitizing the crap out of everything due to Covid. Same would go for all teams in the play in series and all the playoff series.
May inconvenience the color blind and those still watching on black and white televisions to have color vs color, but it too makes sense for some resource saving, and the marketing aspect of jersey color is wiped away with neutral site, empty arenas.
One team would have to change if the Flames ended up playing Chicago or Arizona in the West, or MTL, WSH, Florida or Carolina in the Cup finals (though I think Carolina said they are going to wear black in the playoffs).

^I really don't think it's that hard to wash clothes safely. Soap and hot water destroy the virus pretty quickly, so sanitizing clothing shouldn't be an issue.
