Lightning: 36-17-3, 75 points (eighth in the overall standings)
Islanders: 32-17-7, 71 points (twelfth in the overall standings)
Regular-season series: the teams did not play each other in the regular season due to the pandemic division based schedule.
This will be the fourth time these two teams will play each other in the playoffs.
The previous playoff series were in 2004, 2016, and 2020 in the first, second, and third rounds respectively.

Every couple of years we change our minds: "it takes speed to win", "it takes size to win", "it takes skill to win", "it takes D to win", "it takes coaching to win", "it takes experience to win", "it takes youthful energy to win"...
Eventually the average of all of these things has to win, right?
(Minus coaching, they are elite there)
If it weren't for questioning their goaltending, I'd be tempted to call the Islanders favourites against Tampa.
I think I'm cheering for them. Go Isles Go?
