The Canes didn't build through tanking/lotteries (although they did win one), don't circumvent the cap, don't kick out kids with the wrong jersey, have a former Flame, and don't have as many dirty players. Plus they took a cup from the Oilers, while the Lightning took a cup from the Flames.

Lots of reasons to cheer for them over Tampa.

Carolina have a lot of credit leftover from '06.

As for Tampa? Other than the Oilers and the decade of filthy era Canucks I hate Tampa as much as humanly possible.

They are literally the hockey equivalent of 'Florida Man.'

I loathe Tampa. Have you ever been to Tampa Bay? Unless you have a raging cocaine addiction and an affinity for preposterously low-cut V-Neck shirts on unreasonably swarthy and portly elderly gentlemen, that City is an unmitigated nightmare.

Tampa Bay is the Edmonton of Florida.

Carolina and Tampa are such a significant step above any Canadian team.

The hope a cup is coming to Canada any time soon is bleeeeeak.

The level of competition, intensity and skill seems to be a few steps above anything seen in the Canadian division. I have a tough time seeing the Canadian division champ winning a single game in the semi-final.

Point has a power play goal, 1-0 Lightning in the second period. Good game so far with solid goaltending by both goalies.

Good game so far and the Canes definitely aren't intimidated by the superstars on the other side.

Wonder if they give Tampa anything for the roughing behind the net after the buzzer? Doubtful but they should

Goalie Nalphabet actually lifted the pad to let that one in.

Yes Lindholm and Hanifin are good players but I think you could have a good debate in that Dougie Hamilton is the best of those players, not that I don't think Hanifin and Lindholm are that bad.

Bruins didn't do so great with their pick they got from the Flames, Zachary Senyshyn, they missed 4 players that ended up being allstars.
Brock Broeser, Travis Konecny, Thomas Chabot and Mathew Berzal.

It's hindsight but it gives a good idea of the return Dougie Hamilton fetched as well as the players available in that draft.
Dougie is the best player of the 3, no debate.
Contract values favour Calgary.

Many times we have talked about goalies letting in goals because they are naturally trying to stop the shot that the shooter’s body language indicates was intended to be taken

That’s why so many goals go in off of deflections and even the odd flubbed shot, such as that one that dipped when the puck was on end the other night

Looked like he lost his net and ran into the post. Just an awful goal to give up.

And if Hamilton flies the coop as a UFA Carolina ends up with none of the assets from that trade, aside from Noel Gunler, Jamieson Rees or Anttoni Honka.

Tampa continues to luck out with opposition goaltending. So frustrating watching the Canes carry the play most of the game only for that to sink them

Yes, we are all aware of the ramifications of the trade. Flames made a good deal.

I was only commenting in the quality of the respective players.
