We're going to need a lot of cancellations to fall short of 70% by July.
Plus you can reasonably assume some people are still booking new 1st dose appointments, especially in light of today's announcement. Seems guaranteed we get to that level.

Was it mentioned in the press conference, I only half listened to it because I had other work stuff going on so I was trying to multi-task, if those 403,000 bookings represent first dose? Or is the 403,000 all bookings which could be first and second. Although the second doses are probably a small number as it is not open to the general population yet.

This is the top concern at the moment for me and my wife.

Our kids a Pfizer and our parents are done.

70% of each age group or 70% overall? I think some age groups have passed that mark.

oh I so want this to happen.
Do you mean having the Stampede? If so then yes, I would say a plan that looks suspiciously like it was crafted to deliver that exact outcome, will likely meet that outcome.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy there is a plan, and I think it's probably okay, though I still think a fully open Stampede is possibly a bit premature.
But like the 2 plans delivered prior to this one, it looks hand crafted to meet specific goals, and basically starts at phase 2.
So far JK et al don't exactly have a track record of delivering effective plans, or sticking to them, so even if this is a good, solid plan, like everything they've done, it comes with a lot of poor optics and communication.

Nah I don't give a #### about stampede.

I do care about a return to normalcy.

At some point I just want to grab onto a ray of hope, even if that ray is fleeting.

My DIL works in a care home for developmentally disabled clients. There are 4 people that live in the home. (the residents only had their first vaccine) My DIL had not been in contact with the staff member for the previous three weeks, but cares for the person who lives there who was infected. Thankfully a mild case.

Now all 4 residents are confined to their rooms until the quarantine period is over.

That is so unfair to the residents and to me it invites a discussion about requirements for workers in a setting like that, along with LTC and any other similar workplace.
There's an LTC here where only about 80% of residents got vaccinated. Obviously due to their ages, they are super high risk.

Starting about a month ago there was a breakout and multiple residents died. I can only hope it was limited to those who were not vaccinated and the disruption to the vaccinated residents was minimal.

Honestly, these places should refuse to allow people to come to work and straight up evict any residents who refuse a vaccine.

Likely won't be until August, so I'm sure I'll have gotten used to relaxed restrictions by then.

I dunno, I think people underestimate how much 15% capacity is. If a Home Depot is 100K sqft, 100% capacity is 2,500 people plus employees. At 15%, that's still 375 people. Assuming an average of 2 people per car in the parking lot, that's still 187 cars.

I just want to be able to cheer on the Cavalry in the supporters section while waving a flag with one hand and drinking a beer in the other - as soon as possible. This summer hopefully!!!

I think this is a perfectly reasonable answer.

By the time Stampede rolls around I would think all that want to be vaccinated are, and likely have been for almost 3 weeks. If Stampede, known for crowds and libations, fits your personal risk allowance then I say give er. If it doesn't, then don't go. No big deal. It might drive infections to some extent, but if what we know about vaccines is true (reduced symptoms and spread) I don't think it will drive hospitalizations, ICU capacity and deaths.

I always say I won't go because I hate pretending to be a cowboy, but if it's a go this year it will be one GIGANTIC party. We're talking daily viral back alley pornhub videos and a surge in STI's to fill up all those empty hospital beds.

Yeah maybe I won't be going..........

Gotcha.
Like I said, I'm hopeful that this works and we can get back to normal.

I'm looking forward to getting back to eating on a patio, and hell, I bought Stampede rodeo tickets a few weeks ago (though I likely won't mill around the grounds or hit up the roundup centre), and I'll damn sure be having a (small) party at my own house, so I'm definitely not a "Sky is falling" type, I just think, like most things JK has done for the last year, his rollout of this plan leaves a lot to be desired, and the optics are terrible.

This is a plan they should have had in place before we met the metrics for the first 2 stages. I mean, they already kind of did have that plan laid out a while back, but now they've gone and filled in the blanks to make sure we do in fact hit June 1st to start reopening, and July 1 for a full reopen.

I also like the CFL.
I propose we shoot for a Canada day opening day, and do a Calgary/Edmonton bubble until the rest of the provinces let them open up.

Yup. Plus the covid fire code restrictions often don't include employees, just customers.

In real life the "10/15/30" percent of fire code capacity restrictions never impacted a whole lot.

Thankfully for Cavalry and Stampeders supporters, those stadiums are half full most of the time anyways.

I can't wait to double fist the $14 beers at Spruce Meadows.
