Vettel on the podium!! So sweet.
Man Leclerc did everything he could to take 3rd and came up short. Stout defending by gasly. And the Norris al.ost snuck in there for a second as well.
Perez with a strong W.
Haha, mercs are really hurting now.

That was one of the best finishes I’ve ever seen! Insane. Seb! Gasly! Hamilton choking! So much win.

That was as unexpected a dry track race can likely get. Max must hate going to Baku now. He’ll have nightmares. Great race from Vettel, he’s still got something left in the tank.

Seriously, I can’t get over this race. Lots of interesting stats too.
- ends Hamilton’s record streak of 54 consecutive points finishes
- Hamilton’s lowest non-DNF finish since 2009
- first no points for Merc since Austria 2018
- Lando Norris is the only driver to score points in every race this season
- top 6 finishers represent 6 different constructors
- Perez is the first driver in the hybrid era to win races with two different teams
- first time both Mercs have missed the podium for two consecutive races in the hybrid era
- Honda PU first b2b wins since 1992

Well that was a rollercoaster. As a Redbull/Verstappen fan, I was gutted when Verstappen's tire failed, stressed at the red flag restart, and then over the moon when Hamilton locked up. So stoked to see Perez pick up the win, with Vettel and Gasly on the podium.

lol halfway through the race I'm going through my picks in my head and couldn't remember my 10th pick. Oh well, wouldn't have been Vettel in 2nd that's for sure.
That was actually a pretty good race aside from the tire failures, some good passing in multiple corners.

Well that was a rather entertaining race. I think Baku would be second behind Spa for a race I'd love to go see. Just seems like there's always drama, loads of passing, and what looks like a fun race.
With Verstappen, Hamilton, Ocon, and Stroll all DNF'ing...that threw a big wrench into the picks. It was a 3-way tie with with FurnaceFace, 3thirty, and TimSJ all getting 14pts.
FurnaceFace also jumps into the top spot overall, passing Btimbit.

Baku looks like an interesting city too. It gives me a bit of an Istanbul east meets west vibe. The medieval old town looks awesome. The race might even be affordable to attend!

Seems like a cool country to visit but they're an authoritarian regime known for having a poor record with human rights. That's a no-go for me.

Agreed. That’s what would make me pause.
Speaking of human rights, just rewatched Drive to Survive S3E9 with the Bahrain races. Checo was really down throughout the episode at losing his ride but the elation at winning the second race and then Horner’s call to him at the end of the episode were great. Happy to see his success this season already. I think Racing Point will rue their decision.
This was also the episode with the miracle of Grosjean. Still have no idea how he got out of that wreck. The scenes with his wife are great, her rolling her eyes at him is hilarious. Hopefully he has good success in the Indy road races and then decides to call it a career after.
The shots in this episode were particularly good. Such a great series.

Magny-Cours would be interesting with a couple DRS zones.

Yeah, its a shame it's such a parade. Beautiful part of France. We were there 2 years ago and it was 38-40c. Incredibly hot at the track (not as hot as RBR 2 weeks later tho...42C). The Renault Clio series was a support race there, now that was fun to watch. 40+ cars ripping around and not afraid to bang wheels and dive bomb into the corner from a LONG way back.
I'd recommend going to the race, just to visit the region. Marseille wasnt great but there are some very cool old Roman ruins (Pont du Gard, Nimes, & Arles), vineyards, lavender farms, Mediterranean coast line, Chateau d'If (Count of Monte Cristo), etc.
