I assume Canada is going to be behind the US in terms of more widespread availability, and in a way I'm kinda glad, part of me wants to see how it goes on a larger scale before taking it.

I will be very happy to take any/all as soon as available in my risk group.

It's an interesting question about who you'd vaccinate first. If you could achieve better uptake in every other country besides the US, would it make sense to tackle other ones first?

That's what most of me says, and if it came down to it I would like to think I'd tell the part of me that is anxious to shut up..

Yeah I'm with ya. I'm not very high risk and the only reason I was ever concerned about getting covid was so I wouldn't spread it to to others. I won't be in a huge rush to get it, definitely interested to see it play out for a bit first

Whenever someone says they want to wait or don't want it, I'm just happy to know that's one fewer person in front of me in line.

I am sure I am in the minority here but my own view is that if you are not vaccinated against COVID (after it has become widely available) you should not be allowed to return to the office. Obviously there would be exceptions such as medical conditions that preclude taking this type of vaccine.

My pal is an employment lawyer and thinks this raises interesting issues.

Probably, but I doubt that's their distribution plan. I wonder if it's just "whoever ordered first gets it first" or if they proportionally give doses to everyone they've got contracts with as they're produced.

I'm 100% getting it I just won't be in a big panic rush to do it, there's people that need it more than I do

The ethical way to do it would be to give it to countries proportionately and allow them to provide it to the most vulnerable first. However, it's really a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. As if they distribute internationally, they're likely to see an uproar from people complaining about them sacrificing local lives.

Does the vaccine prevent you from just getting sick or from also being a carrier?

For distribution, Iíd probably do schools first. Teachers, students, admin.

Maybe If youíre trying to get airlines, travel, and tourism back up, somehow offer it to anybody travelling internationally. Or charge a premium for anybody wanting it for travel and use that to help fund distribution to everybody else.

It'll be a mix between the two. Governments like the US that invested in the infrastructure in return for owning doses will get preferential treatment, but it's certainly not a case of whoever ordered it first gets the first doses. The EU just signed a deal with Pfizer a little over a week ago, but it sounds like they're expecting doses before Canada who signed on in early August. BioNTech has said they're largely trying to ship out doses to countries in proportion to their population, but obviously logistics are going to play into that a bit. The good news for Canada on that front is that Pfizer never took US government money to develop or test the vaccine, so they're allowed to sell to whomever they want. And it sounds like about about 50% of US production, in the first few months at least, is destined for non-US markets.

With Moderna, the US bankrolled part of the manufacturing and paid for some of their trials, so they essentially own the first 100M doses made in the US. Other countries will get their doses from Swiss production, which is supposed to be about 30M a month. Not many countries other than Canada have deals with Moderna right now (just the US, Japan, and then small orders from Israel, the UK, and Switzerland), so hopefully Canada gets a good supply from that.

Here's a tracker with currently publicly released vaccine orders:

I think that is unclear with the amount of data collected so far.

But even it you could still become a carrier, you would probably a less virulent carrier.

High Viral counts / Coughing / Heavy Breathing / Snot.... are the things that allow you to cast virus off on others. If you have relatively low viral counts being easily suppressed by your immune system then the R0 should drop because it's hard to get the virus to someone.

Do these medical conditions include having an IQ above 34 and not being brainwashed by the media. Holy hell.
