Barking up the wrong tree here pal.

BBQ Chicken Pizza won the pizza showdown a year ago. CP is firmly in chicken belongs on pizza camp.

Tried Sophie's after reading about it on this thread. Would rate it as nothing special and definitely wasn't worth the trip from Cranston. I love Spiros and Atlas, but to me Sophies was nowhere close to these.

I still love Michael's down on 10th, but it's pretty far as I'm in the deep south.

Also used to love Volos but haven't tried it in years, is it still decent?

I thought Sophies was pretty much the same recipe as Spiros?

Not the best I've had. Pizza was undercooked so very doughy.

Isn't Atlas kind of like Sammy's and Vern's in Millrise? I seem to remember it that way the couple times I had it. I guess I'm not a fan of stacks of luncheon meat on pizza because that's what Sammy's and Vern's are. Gus's by the Foothills hospital is like that too.

Michael's is probably my favorite, I'm also close to Spiros so those are a couple good ones.

I'll have to try Nikos and Bow Tie though.

Vern's is nasty. While some people seem to enjoy stacks of processed lunch meat, I prefer less meat and more quality.

Thick lunchmeat style pizzas just aren't good. I mean if you want to fill a bunch of tummies they'll get the job done. But at that point I'd rather a proper Chicago deep dish.

Speaking of that, I know there's good and bad Chicago deep dish in Calgary. What's one of the good ones in the Shanwnessy/Canyon Meadows/haysboro/lake bonavista are of the city?

I'll go anywhere within like 6 communities to get the good one, I guess is the point of listing those random communities.

The “good” one has the 531-3131 phone number. They have a Haysboro location.

I've never had a problem with the Midnapore Chicago. For the longest time it was like stepping back in time. First generation Canadians working; appear to be husband and wife. Little kid at the front table working on his homework while watching TV shows from home on a TV with a coat hanger for an antenna. Just a little slice of Canadianna to go with my pizza.

Never go there for pickup, just remain blissfully unaware and enjoy the pizza.

I used to live in a cul de sac nearby the Haysboro location. The place looks like you'll get an infection just walking in the front door.

Alright, top pizza spots in the NW?

Matador seems a staple but if I'm being totally honest I don't think it's all that great.

Best I've had from around here is Papa Nikolas. Any others?

Mad Rose Pub in Royal Oak is my favourite but I haven't tried a bunch of places.

Varsity >> Matador

Royal Pizza was good, but too pricy

I've had varsity before. It's good but not better than Papa Nikolas.

Tried Gus's. Not terrible but not very good. Will have to try Pow, but the sauce on top thing seems pretty weird.
