Stephen Johns will miss the entire upcoming season for Dallas
Before coming back to play halfway through the 2019-2020 season, Johns had previously missed 22 months of NHL action due to post-traumatic headaches and post-concussion syndrome.
Quote:
Multiple sources have confirmed the Dallas Stars will be without Stephen Johns for the entirety of the coming season. It is only a matter of time until the team places Johns on Long-Term Injured Reserve, allowing the Stars to use Johns’ $2.35 million cap hit for this season to add reinforcements.

In the Stars’ first-round playoff series against the Calgary Flames, Johns left in Game 1 and did not return to the ice for the remainder of the playoffs.

That's unfortunate. Hate seeing guys repeatedly miss time with concussions. Johns, Ferland...

Am I the only one who hasn't heard of this guy? While I hope he recovers, as I would anyone, who is he?

He missed nearly 2 consecutive years of hockey because of his headaches, I believe it's similar to what Nolan Patrick is going through. He's been pretty highly touted since being drafted in Chicago and was looking like a top 4 guy in 2017 before missing all this time
Last season after the 22 months missed he was sent to the AHL on a conditioning stint, put up 4 points in his first game back, came back to the NHL and played about 15 games until being injured again against the Flames in the playoffs
He was just a finalist for the Masterson with Ryan and Lindblom
