Who knows how good those two will be 2-4 years from now. Draisaitl I have concerns on but McDavid will likely be the best player in the league if he’s not already that now. And their percentage of the team salary will drop as the cap rises. Now like I said I doubt their GM is good enough to build that team around them to win a cup given what he’s done in Edmonton so far, but it’s not like having a player like McDavid is bad even if it costs you 12.5 million. Would I trade Gaudreau and Monahan for him? In a minute even though I like their contracts a lot and think they’re really good players.

Colliton is a local kid (from Blackie) played in two WJC and many years in the AHL (with an NHL cup of Coffee).

He played in Europe and then Coached in the Swedish Elite League until 2017 when he moved back to North America to coach Rockford.

Smart guy and only 33 years old. I hope he does well.

I would argue the 'Hawks do not prove you can, but suggest you cannot, as the big Toews and Kane contracts started after their last cup, and they have not won since they kicked in. (They were signed in summer of 2014, but started for the 2015-16 season.)

Although if you are referring to the Pens, then yes, Malkin and Crosby are combined 23% of the cap.

So, yes, you can, sometimes, but not always...
I've really said nothing here...

Crawford, Ward, Keith, and Kunitz are all older than their new coach. Seabrook is only 3 months younger.

Kane despite how good he is is a winger. I think if you’re going to put that much money towards two players they need to be centers. Pittsburgh did that and it looks like both Edmonton and Toronto will be following that model. Toronto has certainly done a lot better job of building a team around their centers, but McDavid is a superior talent to Matthews.

As for the lol, well I think having the best player in the league would be worth quite a lot. I’m sure if that trade was proposed it would be Edmonton that walks away. I understand the hate of Edmonton being that this is a Calgary board and like you I’m happy that they have a poor GM who doesn’t seem to be able to build a consistent winner with the huge luck that’s dropped in their lap (how many number one picks did they get?) but it doesn’t take away from the fact that McDavid is a fantastic talent and will likely be the face of the game for years to come.

Cutting off their nose to spite their face. Q was far, far from the problem.

He'll find work.

Anyway on Quenneville I do hope the Oilers don’t get him since it would certainly make them better. It’s nicer when they have incompetent coach and GM to waste McDavids prime years.

For once I’m grateful the Oilers went on a run. They could’ve easily been in the JQ sweepstakes

It looks like this is the second year of a three year contract for him, paying $6 million per year (second only to Babcock at $6.25 million).

So hes being paid for the rest of this year and next year? Yeah, I'd cool my heels and enjoy cashing my former employer's cheques until a really good opportunity came my way.

You know Edmonton's greasy vultures would be circling if they were still .500

They can keep their little run going until he's made a decision.

Coach Killer Flames. I bet we see another couple of coaches fired this season after playing us and our amazing comebacks.

That's different. Coach Q is a legend. Not every day you see those types of guys fired.

Chatter around Chicago is that they fired the wrong guy. Should have been Bowman.
