Calgary to Los Angeles - $198 after tax, roundtrip
March 16-23
On WestJet's site, this flight shows up as $300. And on Orbitz.com it shows as $200, but when you select it, it shows as $340.
BUT, when you look at it on CheapTickets.com (owned by Orbitz) it lets you select the flight and buy it for $198, roundtrip, after tax.

Hey Chris,
I'll probably be needing a flight from YYC to YVR for May long, i.e. May 21-24. What's a good price for this and what would be a good time to buy it?
Thanks,
SebC

Hi SebC,
WestJet is $313 after taxes. Doesn't seem to terribly out of line with what can be expected for a long weekend. The cheapest price (long weekend or not) for Vancouver hovers around $275-$300 at the moment. If WestJet or AC has a sale it can dip down to the low $200's, so you can take the gamble and hope for one of those. Could be wishful thinking for a spring long weekend though.

One of the AM 770 producers asked if I would do an interview with Mike Blanchard today at 5:45 PM.
Tune in, I'll be sure to mention CalgaryPuck when he asks how it started.

He is doing exactly what he needs. He sees the market, sees the need not being filled, fills it with a version 1.0 website, gets feed back and as soon as we get hooked BAM. Fees.
Dont let the avatar fool you, he is a snarly buisness type.

Close, but the exit strategy is a buyout from iTravel2000 and you will all be redirected to a site with Jonathan Carroll's annoying voice looping over and over.
Maybe I shouldn't talk, mine could be just as bad.

Argh sorry guys, I didn't get a chance to work in CP, wasn't a natural way to work it in. I thought maybe I'd have more time but it was pretty rapid fire. I almost laughed when he called me Curtis, definitely not the first time that's happened.

No worries, Curtis!
You did quite a good job, and the kicker definitely was when you worked in the top 3 current deals right at the end! Nice buzzer beater!

Haha, yeah the girlfriend was laughing at that. I was hoping there'd be time to somehow mention the $100 flight to Spain. I'll save it for Larry King.

Good work Chris,
Two months before is the best time to book a flight eh? So hold off until the end of April/Beginning of May to book my tickets to Ottawa.
I'm thinking I should be able to get about $200 return. Does that sound right? It's currently sitting at $400 return.

Well, that's just a very general rule of thumb based on what I've seen, no guarantee of course that prices actually will change. But people are always asking me to predict future fare prices, so that's about all I can say.
In general I'd say you're probably safe at least watching the prices until 2 months ahead, and there *usually* isn't much danger of them rising higher in that time period from what I've seen.

So prices are guaranteed to go down by the end of April, sweet!
