I think I see it the same way - stats like this only really serve to backup what is dead obvious to anyone watching. Calgary outplayed and outshot, and has a number of players that are really performing poorly, and Janko is maybe at the top of that list.
Well they should right? (That sounded like Peters)

If one team is out playing the other team badly you'd expect their players to have terrible underlying numbers.

However it was interesting to me to see all the Flames lines getting outplayed and out metric'd against their counterparts from the Avalanche.

Final numbers from series ...

Some thoughts

Top Line - Both Lindholm and Gaudreau upped their individual counts in the last game, and with that come in at a decent level. All three players gave up way too much though rendering them ineffective. Prevention ranks for the three players all in the mid to high 30s. They were never going to lead in shutting things down, but they had to be less than what they generated, and they were no where close.

Second Line - Tough assignment for sure, but their prevention numbers matched what we saw, they couldn't get it done.

Third Line - Only Bennett elevates, his for is better than his against, though neither are all that great. Individually, he gets things done though, ranked 19th offensively in the series.

Fourth Line - Didn't generate anything, but did a decent job of giving Smith a breather.

Defense Crew - individual numbers not as important. Top two pairs with the heavy matchups just spent way too much time in their own zone.

Janko is a very good penalty killer, but not so good on 5v5

Challenge with Janko since the time he was drafted was whether he was going to be able/willing to use his body and frame to help him control the puck, help with the cycle game etc... otherwise Colborne 2.0 was a reasonable comparison, though i think Janko is better than that...

Flames just didn't have guys who could raise their compete level... they have guys that are very consistent and play well within a routine... but the playoffs are a different animal.

outside of Bennett, maybe Andersson, and of course Smith, not one player raised their game so that they played better in the post season. Not one (johnny had flashes in game 5, and Tkachuk/Backlund did look good in game 1)...Maybe DAG line held up ok too. Valimaki looked very good

What makes the playoffs so hard is that its not one and done, on to the next team... players start to figure you out, take away what you're good at... IF you cannot raise your intensity level of tweak your tendencies, good teams and good staffs will expose you.

I think the Flames breakout was exposed, how to deal with smith's puckhandling was figured out, reading Johnny's face to the boards half turn backhand pass was eaten up. They made calgary play along the boards in the offensive zone, all the while, they set waves of players into the high slot with area passes...

at the end of the day everyone was exposed except for a few players.
