Look for some lopsided calling in game 7 so Bettman can be happy all the Canadian teams will be out.

Well that will make two of us. Hoping for all all-American team round 2.

What would be the motivation to want Toronto out of the playoffs?

The league would LOVE to see Toronto do well. It would mean $$$$$...and that is and always has been the bottom line under this commissioner.

Just saw a video online of Leafs fans lighting a Bruins jersey on fire while the Bruins fan was still wearing it. Looked kind of fake but still stupid

Why does it mean money? A Columbus Leafs series won't have much TV appeal in the US. That's where the money is. Boston will at least boost US TV ratings. Canadians will watch no matter what. Bettman cares about the US TV market.

But whatever happens the loss will be on the losing team. No excuses. Expecting a Leafs loss because that's what being a Leafs fan is all about.

If this was the case the Mathews game 5 goal would have been waved off.

I'm saying there's no conspiracy either way. But Bettman most definitely rather have the Bruins advance for monetary reasons.

Bruins in the finals would have littlemeasurable impact on US TV ratings compared to any other city.

The Leafs would move the dial in Canada, no question about it IMO.

And it’s not like ratings result in direct $’s to the league. It would impact the next TV deal and guess where the big TV money comes from.

Disagree. Rogers is the biggest broadcasting partner for the NHL and they want their largest market to advance.

Seriously?

Millions of eyeballs is the answer.

Its the same reason they are on prime time TV every single Saturday night during the season.

"Canadians" wont watch "just because" either. Yes as a nation we watch the sport more so than the US, but when the Leafs and/or the Canadiens are involved, there is a huge difference in ratings. Ratings = $$.

TV advertising 101.

I hope this is all moot anyways, and that the Bruins send the Leafs packing in a 6-1 whitewashing.

There is a reason that the Leafs are the most valuable franchise in the league. Yes, the Leafs doing well is good for the NHL. Making the ECF would be a big deal.

Although, honestly, I kind of just want to see them get there and get swept by the Islanders. How funny would that be.

Three times in the last 15 hours I turn on the TV and they’re replaying the Leafs-Bruins game. Argh. They truly must be Canada’s team. I hope the Bruins put them out of their (and our) misery.

If Leafs lose this one it's likely series over for them.

Until the Flames win the cup, I wish nothing but terrible for every other Canadian team. Go Bruins

That said, this has been some of the best hockey in Round 1 IMO. In spite of reffing, this has felt like a classic Toronto vs Boston series (context: in another thread I've griped about too much parity). Too much of this round have felt like 'this years collection of players wearing X jersey' vs 'this years collection of players wearing Y jersey' to me, besides this series and SJ/VGK (oddly).
