I just can't wrap my head around that. In little league every player knows to tag the base at first, you never try to tag the player. How the hell does someone make the majors and still attempt that crap?
If you listen closely you can hear the manager having a heart attack. If you listen real close you can hear the first baseman's wife throwing his stuff on the lawn because there's no way she wants to live in a minor league town.
Just dumb on a lot of levels.
I don't know baseball stats but would the first baseman be charged a error on that one?

No idea...didnt think to look at the box score but there is really no other way to score it other than fielders choice.....which is true, but it was the absolute wrong choice.
I will also say that through the literally thousands of games either played or watched in my life, I have never seen a runner head back to the plate after going up the line.
The frustrating thing about that baseball play is that there were 2 outs. Who cares if the runner scores if you get the force at first.
So much idiocity. And then he gets second.
And the crazy thing about that force at first is it doesn't matter what happens first - the force-out or the run - the run gets wiped out and the inning ends. The run can cross the plate 10 seconds before the force-out, doesn't matter, it still gets wiped out. A casual jog back to first with the ball was all the first-baseman needed to do to save the play.
