I think generally, if you’re younger and healthier, you probably don’t need to worry about any further vaccinations (or any at all) considering the nature of COVID today. Especially considering they don’t prevent transmission either.

To your point, that’s why Europe is heading in the direction they are.

I am getting the Bivalent Pfizer booster when it comes out. If it lowers my symptoms when I inevitably get COVID again I am all for that.

I do think the benefit is less clear for younger, healthy people. And I do generally agree with the European approach at focusing on 50+ year olds or the booster campaign; that's really where the benefit is going to be felt most. However, I also think anyone under 50 should also be able to get a booster whenever they want; there's nothing to be gained by restricting access any more than there would be to restrict access to flu vaccines. That policy by some European governments is simply asinine.

And I also think we're potentially in for a bit of a reckoning if the 50+ population doesn't stay up to date with vaccines. Last I saw, only about 5% of Americans have bothered to get the bivalent booster, which means the vast majority of 50+ year olds (which make up about 30% of the population) haven't gotten it. Out of date vaccines still offer decent protection against severe disease, but eventually that wanes too. If we get to the point where we're only seeing mediocre protection against severe disease from old vaccinations and COVID is still flying through the population, there's going to be a pretty large population that's at risk of filling up hospitals.

I’m very healthy and still sub 50, but I decided to get the Pfizer bivalent while I was in the US. I’m not concerned about dying from it, but like Knut said, if I can keep the symptoms minor or non-existent when I eventually get it I’d prefer that.

And for others info, after 36 hours I’ve had virtually no side effects (mildly sore injection site and slightly tight back, but really nothing of note).

What's wrong with the Moderna Bivalent? It's available now.

The one we have in Canada is targeted at BA1/2 which isn't circulating anymore, the Pfizer(and Moderna they have in the US) is targeted at BA4/5, which is pretty much 100% of what we have. Is there a functional difference? I haven't seen any comparisons yet, but it is early. So I could see why people would want the one that targets the circulating strains more specifically.

Mice studies showed better neutralizations with the Pfizer ba4/5 bivalent vaccine. We should be able to get it in Alberta starting Oct 25

Ya, I know there is some evidence of that, I'm just not sure if the practical difference matters.

Is every eligible for the bivalent vaccine? If so, is it available everywhere?

I got covid 3 months after my booster shot and it took me out good, took me about 4-5 months to get back to somewhat normal. So, I am not sure if I should get this booster now or wait.

Yes. You just can walk into most Pharmacy's and get it next week.

Starting on Monday October 25th you can get the Pfizer Bivalent.

And now back to not thinking about Covid for another year (6 months?).

I got Pfizer Bivalent for my second booster on Wednesday. Sore arm for a day and some fatigue. Overall, not bad.

One more shot and I enable full 5G.

Dumb question perhaps but why do people say they have two vaccinations and two boosters (assuming they do) instead of four vaccinations? I say I have four vaccinations.

The dosage can be different in the boosters.

Had the bivalent Pfizer booster on Friday and had pretty much zero effects outside of a sore arm. My first shot AZ was by far the worst by far

So that's 4 vaccine doses in total and 2 bouts of covid after the first 3 shots. Does that count as 6G?
