I’m disappointed it’s just ROTK. It was the least good movie. I’d much prefer to watch fellowship or two towers in theatres again if I had the choice. Gimme some battle of helms deep on the big screen with Dolby atmos. Hook that #### to my veins.

On a positive LOTR note: The Return of the King will be coming back to theaters later this month for the 20th anniversary! And it looks like they're going with the extended edition.

I'm gonna go multiple times.

Me too! The Fellowship is my favourite, but this one is just so spectacular on the big screen. I saw it 3 times when it first came out. Can't wait!

I've mentioned it before, but I found the best way to watch the trilogy is to watch the extended versions as 1 hour episodes, so it doesn't feel like such a time sink. A good 10 hours of TV viewing. I still have to FFWD through the stupid parts of the Battle of the Pelennor Fields though.

We watch the extended ones it in halfs, so we split each one into two nights. It works out well, usually no more than two hours a night. Athough we're huge fans of the trilogy. I could see where that might be a lot for people who really into it.

FOTR is a perfect film. I've undoubtedly seen it more than any other movie (if I had to give it a number, easily 20 times); I'd love to see it in theatres again. Not so much Return of the King, though.

Looks better. Mind you, the problems ppl expressed about s01 wasn't the camera work or set design.

Which appendix pages and footnotes do I need to read to prepare for this season?

The main arc for S2 will probably just cover the events from 1590 to 1699 from Appendix B (all six of them), along with compacting the Numenor timeline of events.

The search for Gollum trilogy is going to be fascinating. Peter Jackson's helming the franchise again.

This is where we will likely get some Blue Wizards, Tom Bombadil, Legolas' trek to find the Dunedin and Aragorn, maybe some flashbacks to flesh out Morgoth and Sauron.

I'm pumped to see what Jackson's going to do with such a large time window to operate in. The books it took decades to try and find Gollum, and for Sarumon to turn and search for the ring himself.

There's lots and lots of meaty material to chew on.

Looks like they are going the direction of Star Wars with an overload on new movies and series. Well, 1 for 1 so far imo. Still don’t understand the hate for S1 of Rings.

I thought I had read they had access to more source material now but can't seem to find that info at the moment
