Default Jet's put Sami Niku on unconditional waivers to terminate his contract

AHL defenseman of the year 2017-18

He had one year left on a two-year deal at $725k.

6-1 175 24 years old 54 NHL games 2 goals 10 pts -5

Similar to Kylington, but not as much of a chance to prove himself in the NHL.

I think we're pretty clearly not going to be interested in another d man to compete for the 5-6 spots.

Is this just a jab at Kylington?

Why do you put a league minimum defenseman on unconditional waivers to terminate his contract?

I'm guessing there is a story here.

His contract is too easy to just move down.

The player requested it and they accommodated him

I guess nobody wants to trade for him

People thought he was going to be the next big thing after being the top scoring AHL Dman at 20 years old. Never took the next step.

Weird that they would do this though. Maybe he's an antivaxxing nut job?

He refused to work for his spot and thought he deserved to play in the league. When he was a press box guy last year he was always first off the ice.

It is high time people realised that literally everything the OP posts is a passive aggressive swipe at the Flames. Sometimes it is really subtle, but the trick is to find it because it is always there.

I still don't see any reason (as of yet) why the Jets feel the need to buy him out. Is he causing a ruckus on the farm with his attitude? Still seems like we don't have the full story here.

Long story short, he's been battling different unfortunate injuries. They seem to be coincidence and not re-occurring. Has had a cup of coffee in the NHL, but it's been limited due to COVID season etc. When he's had his opportunity he hasn't really blown the doors off.

To me it seems like a worthwhile no-lose gamble for a team to pick him up. Not sure Calgary is the team for that, but if someone like Ottawa had interest I could see why.

I don't know... Having watched all of TC's youtube videos on the old testament, they are all full of passive aggressive swipes at ricardo. Sometimes it is really subtle, but the trick is to find it because it is always there.

"The Exegetical Failures of the ricardo grit index" is among my all time faves on his channel!
