What a flipping joke that the final of the women’s hockey championship is not on either TSN 1 or TSN 2. So my father who lives here in a nursing home and would love to watch this game instead he has to watch tennis or UFC. They couldn’t put this game on either of the top two stations which are available on basic cable? Ridiculous!!
That really pisses me off, really wanted to watch the game with my wife and daughter. FU TSN.

The Americans didn’t walk on the Canadian flag. It was covered in depth on a recent “engraved on a nation” special. Cassie Campbell started the rumour and admitted she wanted it to stay in the room.

Congratulations ladies. You are the best in the world. Now we just have to find a way to pay you like the professionals that you are.
Build the sport, but the federal government can chip in a few million until the sport can support itself. If we don’t put in a little money, the Americans and the NCAA system could supplant the Canadian system and dominate women’s hockey.
Of all the money spent by the feds, a little for the national team and their gold medal is in order.

The obvious solution is to put an entertaining product on the ice. Lets be honest, last night was an exciting game but there wasn't an exciting game featuring Canada or the USA outside of it. Including their first meeting.

Fair answer, but it's hard to do that when these women also have to work to support themselves. They don't get paid to train or play hockey like their male counterparts do.

Right, but like I said there needs to be something people are willing to pay big money to watch to get to that point. The NHL didn't start out that way either. Theres still a league that is going and trying to grow. But the battle over the leagues isn't helping the game.

This is a discussion thats been retread many times. Pro sports is not, and should not, be equal regardless of TV contracts, ticket prices, merch sales, etc.
Women's hockey generates almost zero revenue. Men's hockey generates billions. There is no reason they should be paid the same based on merit.
The way it works, which is what the NBA/WNBA do, is that the men's league could subsidize the women's game for millions of dollars with the intent that growing the women's game is, long term, beneficial for the men's game too.
The government has no place in subsidizing professional sports. The CFL knows all about that. The government can't just start picking and choosing which professional athletes "deserve" to get paid enough they don't need side jobs.
