Set a goal at the beginning of the summer to ride the entire Greenway in one stretch. 170km round trip (150 + 10 each way cycling to the trailhead/home)
Took the day off yesterday, 10-11 hours on the bike, visited all 4 corners of the city, as far south as Cranston and as far north as Livingstone... finished in the dark but I knocked it off!
Watch died at the end so no Strava for the NW segment

That's fantastic. Any specific places where it was hard to find the Greenway or it was not signed clearly? Any sketchy roads or bits that were harder to navigate?

Gotta say that the colors and trails out in WBC are stellar right now. Throw down the wicked sunsets and it’s a glorious time of year. Several times we had to stop and just take in the views and colors and recharge the soul.

With sunset soon after 7 you’ll want to start riding by 5’ish to give enough time overall for stops, climbing to some viewpoint (Ranger, Merlin, Long Distance, Shaft, etc), dodging bears and cows, etc. Don’t forget some lights and extra layers and some type of camera. Beer optional.

Subject to serious shaking though unless enjoyed in the parking lot. Or cider (for those gluten intolerant folks)

I only stop for coffee and I'm always nervous about running out of bladder space on a ride as I carry 1-2 bottles as I drink alot.
What are some good bike friendly coffee places? I usually start with a coffee at Phil & Sebastians in East Village and go from there.

I'm never afraid of that because I make use of the trees along the ride. You can almost always find somewhere to duck off to, even on the pathways.

trees are amazingly useful aren't they!
and shrubs
and grass
and fenceposts
etc...
ain't it great being a dude!!
I still don't understand how I can go on a mtb ride and have 1-2 good pees... yet women hardly, if ever, stop for a pee. how does that work?

They hold it. They don't have the same readily available options we do.
Though I've ridden past more than a few women who thought they were hidden from view. Too many guys that didn't hide themselves well enough either.

In the end, who really cares? Most people are passing to fast to be pervs about it. It's natural thing everyone does, we let dogs piss everywhere, why is it such a big deal to stop and relive yourself? As long as you aren't pissing all over walls and light posts it's pretty zero impact.
Women can buy devices that make it a lot easier, but it is one more thing to carry.

I personally don't care. Nature calls when nature calls. It's more funny from my point of view.
I do think you need to reasonably conceal yourself in those situations. I've seen it in Fish Creek Park and that could be an issue where there are lots of children around.

How about about Tour de France style where you just let it out while you are in motion?

I'm not in such a big rush as to need to deploy that. It's called a nature break, not a nature keep going.

So yesterday evening, I turned off at the Zoo to the Nose Creek Pathway and there was a section of the pavement that has been cut out completely, just huge pebbles and dirt left and two 1 or 2 inch 90 degree curbs on either end where it has been cut.
I went through it at 20kph and bam! both wheels buckled instantly and I ended up with two pinch flats. I need to get the rims inspected as well for damage. I couldn't deal with it and I walked the bike up to the Zoo C-Train to get home.
Seriously thinking tubeless again. Any idea what a tubeless setup can cost for a shop to set up? Can you still get these kinds of buckle/pinches with tubeless?

When I rolled through there yesterday around 3:30pm they had signs and pylons up on both sides of that construction (one by the bridge over Nose Creek, and the other north of Memorial). Same thing again this morning. Where they not there last night?

I came from the south side. When I got to the north side I saw there was a sign up further down the path but approaching from the south someone had kicked the pylons off to the side of the road at the time.
It was also not something super dangerous looking as I thought I could easily hop it but the loose rocks and gravel messed up my hop up on the roadie.
Just a lesson to not take any 90 degree curbs at any speed.
