No they are just lucky they played the Rays while we took a break from hitting and don't play again until October.

Stanton with a 472 foot bomb. Gross.

Lmao. The Mets continue to Met.

@jeffpassan:
The New York Mets just put out a statement in which the team president said it's OK for fans to boo, it's not OK for players to mock their fans for booing and there's going to be a team meeting to address this.

I'm not sure why, but I can't stop laughing at the last paragraph of Sandy Alderson's statement:

"Mets fans are loyal, passionate, knowledgable and more than willing to express themselves. We love them for every one of these qualities."

It's amazing in so many different ways.

The Mets truly are the gift that keeps giving. What a hilarious disaster of a season.

Some highlights so far:

-The signing of Frankie Lindor to a massive contract with a year remaining on his current deal. Just another swing and a miss on a big free agent contract.
-Frankie Lindor getting into fights with teammates about his poor play leading to the infamous rats in a tunnel gongshow
-Practically every Steve Cohen quote is hilariously bad.
-Pete Alonso acting like a clown during the Home Run Derby and proclaiming himself the best power hitter in the game.
-Pete Alonso telling Mets fans to be lucky that they get to watch the game of baseball and to relax
-Selling some big assets to acquire an aging ego in Javier Baez
-Fans booing players and player booing fans.

There's probably so much more but I'm too busy laughing.

And with all that they somehow managed to stay in first place for half a season only to collapse in ridiculous fashion. One can only imagine what the remaining 35 games will bring.

Mets lost a 9-run lead in a 7-inning game. Lol

Mets winning into the 9th inning and lose again. Makes me laugh.

This play is about a month old but I only saw it yesterday. It's hilarious. Only in baseball does this stuff happen

Scherzer struck out Hosmer to become the 19th pitcher in history to reach 3000 K's

He's also got a perfect game going through 6 innings.

How cool would that be?

Scherzer in absolute best mode right now. Perfect through 7 and barely breaking a sweat.

The Padre's have been low key bad for half a season now. Barely hanging onto a wildcard spot because nobody in the NL is making a move.

Bummer. Immaculate inning, 3000th K, and a perfect game would've been arguably the greatest game ever pitched from an accolades standpoint.

I don't hate the Yankees as much as others, and I know they are going to be battling the Jays for eternity and have since 1976, but no way can I cheer for primadonnas like Baez and Lindor in the dust up that happened tonight..so, glad Stanton hammered that one out (somewhat expected, given it was Hand) so he could spout off to Lindor.

Alcohol is a hell of a thing

@Todd_Rosiak:
Devin Williams just told reporters he punched a wall following the clinch celebration Sunday after having a few drinks and fractured his right hand. The injury will require surgery and will likely end his season.

The Dodgers can hit.

Three solo HRs in 8 to tie the game.

Add in a 2 run shot and they are up 11-9.
