I think of Australia 2017 as the standard I'd like to see. I'm not even saying that because Roger won, but think of how memorable and exciting that tournament was. And I remember all the talk about how much faster the courts were compared to other years. The athlete of today is simply too good to have slow courts by choice.

You guys are arguing only one way.
Grass should be really fast and clay should be really slow. You want certain players to dominate a surface. Now the calendar is a different story. I've argued for years in support of a 1000 Grass Tournament, even though I hate it.
Wasn't it great when Roger tried to beat Rafa at the French and then a month later Rafa tried to beat Roger at Wimbledon? That's special. If you make all courts fast, that's a boring sport.

Who said make all courts fast? Just stop ####ing making grass and hard courts slow. Clay is what it is, but making grass clay-lite and hard courts clay even-liter is going to destroy the sport. I was watching some old highlights of Fed and Agassi in the 2005 US Open final, the ball is absolutely flying through the court and it's wonderful. I can only imagine how dominant Andre would be with today's courts, he was Novak-level defense with even faster courts.

My point is that've made clay much faster too. So we should support making all things back to normal.

Lol that article mostly points out how slow hard courts are now that clay could be considered faster, so that wasn't really proving the point you were hoping, and in fact proves the point that hard courts are embarrassingly slow now.

Seriously make clay as slow as it possibly can be, no one watches anyway. Just leave hard courts and grass courts (and Britney!) alone.

Felix wins 6-3 6-3 6-3 and Vasek vs. Tiafoe has started (on serve in the opening set)

I guess I don't have to post in this thread anymore if you're just going to read my mind and post everything I'm thinking... 100% this.

You're funny. Nobody watches grass. There are like 5 grass tournaments total.

Not sure what number of tournaments has to do with interest in tournaments, but whatever. I do agree though it's much better to tune into the clay 1000 events and see 38 people in the crowd.

Tiafoe is playing some of the best tennis I have ever seen him play, Vasek is playing quite well, but Frances isn't giving him many looks thus far.

Yeah, I tuned in a bit and they said that after an early exit from the French, Tiafoe went to England and won a grass challenger. So he's really comfortable out there.

Vasek will have to go the distance as Tiafoe has won the first two sets by identical 6-4 set scores.

Frances wins 6-4 6-4 6-4 over Vasek. On the plus side, Vasek was able to win one more game against Tiafoe than Greek Yogurt. Sometimes you just have to look across the net to the other side and say "Too good".

Just don't make clay blue and take off the stupid roof at the French Open and I'll be happy
Edit: Actually get rid of all roofs, tennis is an outdoor sport. All roofs do is give an advantage to the top players. Novak was able to finish his 2nd round match before Felix played his first round match.

Australia invented the roof because it was too hot. And there is now too much money in the sport not to guarantee night sessions.

The funny thing is when the Big 3 are gone a lot of those night sessions are going to be barren.

I was just looking at the draw and Felix is on a collision course with Kyrgios in round 3 if both are able to win their next matches (Felix plays Mikael Ymer next).

I question Kyrgios conditioning and how much he would have left, after being away for 5 months and having to play 3 days in a row.
