If you look at the youtube clips for the Rebels series, the clips with jedi fights have the most views (by far).
Yeah. I would appreciate some movies based farther into the past in the SW universe, some of CCs mentions would make for some great movies. Or even some more Jedi hunting in between ROTS and ANH would be great.

I love the Jedi vs Sith stuff, two conflicting theocratic beliefs that really don't care about who or what their wars effect.
The Jedi always talk about being selfless, but they left a lot of bodies in their wake.
I would love a Vader order 66 story, but the problem with that is we know how it ends. I liked the one thing with the New EU where very few jedi survived order 66. I mean they basically left it with Obi-Wan and Yoda and Kanan who wasn't a full jedi but an apprentice, and Ahsoka. Out of 10,000 jedi a very small handful survived and went into hiding.
In legends eventually they just frankly had a ton of jedi or force sensitives running around, and it kind of made order 66 look stupid.
A order 66 movie would on one hand be cool because we would see an extremely powerful Vader out there, but the problem is that it would literally have to be a slaughter.
I loved Rogue one and even Solo which were literally force free except for like 50 seconds combined. There are extra ordinary ordinary people who have great stories. There's a whole rebellion out there. One of the best stories that I remember enjoying was Tie Fighter which took place on the Imperial side with a decidedly non evil people believing that the New Order was the best way.
Lots of stories out there. I'd like to see a break from the Force Wars if there's another trilogy.

So because I'm not sleeping well anyways. I thought I'd put a quick book recommendation down here for anyone that wants to read some Star Wars to fill in the blanks. Here's my recommendations, and they're in order of dates
EU Legends
Darth Bane Trilogy - I would put this up as the best series of Star Wars books. It is a biography of the life of Darth Bane who was a miner on a distant planet who eventually found himself as the creator of the Rule of Two. The first novel is outstanding. The other two novels add his apprentice Darth Zannah and really shows the master apprentice dynamic and how the rule of two really works. Bane is the ultimate anti-hero here. He's not truly the villain here, but he's not good at all. Takes place 1000 years before the Battle of Yavin
Darth Plageuis This takes place starting about 70 years before the battle of Yavin and ends at the end of Phantom Menace. Again it focuses on a villain that was mentioned in passing in the movies. But he's the latest in a long line of Sith Lords. Shortly after killing his own master he searches for an Apprentice and finds a young, ambitious but directionless noble named Palpatine who is powerful in the Force and takes him on as his apprentice. Palpatine is a scene stealer and makes this book facinating as we see him play the political game and use guile and deception to rise to power.
Darth Bane trilogy is my favorite of all the Legends EU. Darth Plageuis follows right behind.
I'm trying to finish the Legends EU, and reading a few duds so I'm taking a long time to get through them. I thought I was going to enjoy Scoundrels, and I am, but I'm not drawn to keep reading it as quickly as possible. When I read Bane's books, I just couldn't put them down and then I was disappointed that I was finished.

I loved the Bane books, the scene in the casino in the first book was so well written and showed that Bane originally wasn't a evil guy, he was just disenfranchised and had a certain world view.
Yeah there are a lot of pretty bad duds in the legends EU. I thought I would like the Republic/Imperial Commando series a lot more then I did, it was such an interesting concept.
Then there was the book about the villain being a pulsating gold crusted meat sack that wanted to eat the Solo kids.
But overall the legends EU was really solid.
the new EU just doesn't have the same feel. The biggest dissapointment to me was the lord of the Sith books that read like a buddy cop mystery.

I know the Mandalorian has been well received, but how is it for the kids? (8 year old). We have Disney+ now and my little guy knows a bit about SW but isn't fanatical. Bigger issue is that he does get scared over some pretty benign things, so just wondering if this is something we can watch together?

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.
I don't see much harm in it from a kids perspective. Yeah there's some violence but its not bad violence. If you're watching it together it shouldn't be a problem.
Just my 2 cents.

I watch it with my 11 and 8 year olds. My 8 year old isn't bothered by it. She wasn't bothered by any of the Star Wars or MCU fight scenes that she has seen over the past year.
I lost interest in the Mandalorian after about 4 episodes. The first episode had a lot of OT nostalgia that I enjoyed and the next couple milked the cute baby yoda, but after that there wasn't much keeping my attention.
Is Episode 9 worth getting a babysitter to go see? Wife and I briefly discussed it, but we might just wait until it comes out on Disney+. After the Last Jedi, there is really no mystery or excitement that I want to find out about for this one. It is also really apparent that it is not a three-part story. They are just three random movies with some Star Wars stuff in them, but put together they make no sense.
Apparently Colin Treverrow's script for Ep. 9 has been leak. It's unconfirmed, so who knows, but the details are a lot more interesting than what happened in The Rise of Skywalker IMO.
I had no problem with my kids in the room for it, the show moved far too slow to keep their attention, so they both just wandered off when I turned it on for the most part. Both under 8.

Damn that actually sounds plausible, and I want to see that movie now.
In the end it's either Disney's fault for not having a clear vision the entire time, or for being too afraid to stick to this version after feedback from TLJ.

They went about it the way a big money guzzling corp would and let the audience feedback and ticket sales affect and determine the creative decisions. And if the reddit chatter is true, Abrams had a bunch of his scenes from the final film chopped right out of it by the people upstairs as they tried to get it down to the most audience-friendly version possible for their target audience, rather than let the man put out his full vision in all its glory and not meddle in it.
I liked a lot of things about Episode 9 still, but admittedly it did play it very safe in many ways and with a tried and true formula that was quite familiar. Ultimately though, I think it's just that a trilogy under the titles of episode VII, VIII, and IX really deserved cohesiveness and continuity between episodes that stayed true to a larger vision across the three installments, rather than the mixed-bag Frankenstein it ended up being. There was a lot of potential story-wise that was left unexploited because of the lack of vision and tug of war behind the camera.
One can only hope they learn something from it.

Its tough for me to believe that bringing back Palpatine was anything but a panic decision caused by Disney looking at a hit to their bottom line.
I love Ian and his portrayal. But the whole Palpatine thing seems like a real rush addition, that almost came out of nowhere.
With the whole concept in the ST of handing off Star Wars to a new generation of characters and hero's they dove right back into that pool of the OT in a full frontal fan service.
