Does make me laugh a little that Trent Alexander Arnold is good enough defensively to play for Liverpool, where they can finish in the top 2 of all major trophies they are eligible for, but he can't get a kick for Southgate on the first choice squad.
You'd think that if you're going to play two holding defenders in Rice and Phillips that you might take a bit more risk and play a more offensive wing back. Not that Kyle Walker is bad - but would be interesting to see a different look.
International Football would be a lot more fun if managers actually took a risk to play more offensive.
In terms of the Italian squad I do like that they seem to be using these three games to give some young / different players a look. The squad that won Euro was not in good form after that tournament and not making changes earlier probably cost them their world cup spot. Hope to see guys like Pellegrini become a fixture in the starting 11 moving forward.
