Miley nailed that cover. Hate her as an entertainer and what she is doing right now but if and when she grows out of this pop garbage crap and starts trending into good music like that, I'll start paying more attention. She got a serious set of pipes that are really being misused.
Surprised Murphy didn't do anything other than accept the recognition he deserved for keeping the show afloat in the dark ages.
Martin Shorts bit with Beyonce was gold. Only Martin Short or Steve Martin could have pulled that off mocking the wind fan.
Why the heck was Goodman not up there with Akroyd and Belushi?
The Seinfeld bit was hilarious, but at the same time, a healthy dose of braggery was going on there.
Bill Murray, that is all.
Wayne and Garth giving Lorne Micheals the gears was also very funny. Made me wonder if that was where he got the idea for Dr.Evil.
I have to say that I loved Sarah Palin being there (She's still hot to met) and the bit with the Donald Trump running mate was brilliant, and shows that she has more self awareness then people give her credit for.

I hate Miley's musical choices, but I believe that she's very talented, and her voice was perfect for that song. If she could transition into something more serious and blues or blue grass based she's be a star in my mind.
The world needs more Martin Short. I think the Blue's brothers without Goodman was a nice salute to Belushi as it kept the focus on the original BB.
Bill Murray is a genious, but I would have rather had the lounge version of the Star Wars theme.
Doctor Evil was inspired by Lorne Michael's. Myers talked about that years ago.

Chris Parnell was in the audience, but he didn't perform or anything.
I loved Steve Martin and Martin Short. Celebrity Jeopardy was fantastic. The Californians was never funny. It was awkward. They even screwed up when they all look in the mirror at the end. And Taylor Swift, she was garbage. I am pretty sure the reason all the other cast members broke was because she was so wildly terrible. Even Cooper was terrible. Better White is awesome.
I liked the Adam Sandler/Andy Samberg collaboration. It could have been better, but I liked the dig at Horatio and Jimmy constantly breaking.
I didn't like the Jimmy/Justin song to start the show.
For all the hype of Eddie Murphy coming back, he didn't really do anything. I wish he could have done a sketch or something as well.
Was Jon Hamm there? Seems like this is something he should have been in.
I do agree though that the audience just wasn't behind it most of the night so a lot of good stuff fell flat. You'd think as former cast members, they would try and support the people on stage.
Could have also used less Miley and Kanye.
Parnell was in that digital short however. Think that was him.
There was so much time spent clapping.. I get it was a celebration, but I'd rather have seen more sketches by the alum then have had to watch hosts cheers a bunch of names and clap between each one.
Thanks to the magic of Instagram, outsiders can vicariously experience the anniversary's afterparty, a wild concert bursting out of New York City's Plaza Hotel. The event was exactly what you'd hope a bunch of famous people forced into a ballroom with instruments would be like. Jimmy Fallon, Taylor Swift, and Paul McCartney jammed to "Shake It Off," Dan Aykroyd joined them for "I Saw Her Standing There," Prince screamed "OH!," Martin Short danced the crap out of a HAIM-backed "Let's Go Crazy?," Michael Bolton led Fallon and Ariana Grande in a slow dance, the B-52s showed up around 3 A.M. to belt "Love Shack," and Murray, life's trump card (to keep that metaphor going), played tambourine. The videos below are dreams come true.
Generalissimo Francisco Franco may still be dead, but the ratings for Saturday Night Live’s 40th-anniversary special definitely weren’t. Though same-day numbers won’t be out until tomorrow, the three hours of the show that aired in prime time (between 8 and 11 p.m.) attracted a massive 23.1 million viewers and a 7.8 rating among viewers under 50. The special didn’t just beat the other broadcast network competition — it crushed it, drawing virtually as many young viewers as programming on ABC, CBS, and Fox combined.
Since SNL’s actual 40th anniversary isn’t until October, don’t be surprised if these monster numbers convince NBC to find a way to pay homage to the show a few more times this year.
That after party was the after parties of all after parties. My lord. Fallons take on it kind of hyped it up though. But still, getting your drink on in a room full of the all time greatest comedians would be number 1 on everyones bucket list.
