I don’t think Treliving is down for a rental. No way he’d be a re-signing.

Will Trump retaliate and plant five Americans on CSKA Moscow?

Stay tuned.

Nope. He had no special clauses in his Habs contract. Though maybe a veteran like him will always be more open as to his voicing of where he’d like to play. Especially someone like Kovy.

He can (and would) opt not to report to somewhere he doesn’t want to go.

I just love how the east is just amped up. Tampa, Boston, Washington, Pittsburgh. Leafs aren't getting a whiff despite do many claiming it was going to be a grand year for them.

Best part is good chance it's a Boston-Toronto first round again.

That's some nice asset management by the Canadiens there. Picked him up for nothing, get a bonus third round pick for their troubles.

My guess is he goes back to MTL in the summer as an FA, and to enjoy the semi-Euro lifestyle.

Thought for sure the Canadiens would get a 2nd but a 3rd for nothing is still pretty awesome.

Between this 3rd and the 2nd for scandella, bergevin definitely bought himself some time/value.

Those are something outta nothing deals pulled off.

One of the few trades that is a win for both teams. The LA kings losing Kovalchuk for nothing are the big losers.

He was not a positive value asset on his LA contract. If they could have traded him for a 7th, they would have. Losing him for nothing was a big win.

The only theoretical loser in this was Kovy's bank account, but I don't think he's losing any sleep over it.

I love this deal for the Caps. Kovy gets a chance to play with the Russians and possibly rekindle a big of magic. If there's anywhere he can do it, it would be Washington.

I think this will be a great fit.
