I think it is an indication that there are other, more significant, moves afoot. In the past 24-hours I have come to believe that Brodie is probably going to be traded before Monday, and if so, then the Flames will also need to do something else to fill the holes on the roster with NHL calibre defensemen.

Two games ago Stone took a shot off the foot and limped. That’s how close they were to calling up Valiev. I guess that’s why. A lot depends on the rehab of Gio/Hamonic/Valimaki.
