Except for cookie cutter sharks. Those things terrify me more than great whites.

I love sharks, and yeah when we were there the locals kept on telling us: "They're friendly sharks!"

I really want to do a cage dive one day. But we had an over-the-water bungalow and they were swimming right under us, it was phenomenal!

They released a video apparently showing the Meissner effect. Anyways, the recipe is out there now - time for other labs to try to reproduce.

not sure what kind of useful data has been coming back lately, but Voyager 2 has gone dark due to a communication error:
Quote:
Nasa has lost contact with its Voyager 2 probe billions of miles away from Earth after sending it the wrong command, the space agency has revealed.
Last month, the spacecraft - exploring the universe since 1977 - tilted its antenna to point two degrees away from Earth after the mistake was made.
As a result, the probe has stopped receiving commands or sending data.
Nasa said it hopes communication will resume when the probe is due to reset in October.

V'Ger and Harry Mudd would've made a fun combo.

Update: they're talking again:

Nasa has picked up a "heartbeat" signal from its Voyager 2 probe after it lost contact with it billions of miles away from Earth, the space agency said.
Last month, the spacecraft - exploring the universe since 1977 - tilted its antenna to point two degrees away from Earth after a wrong command was sent.
As a result, the probe stopped receiving commands or sending data.
But on Tuesday, Nasa said a signal from Voyager 2 was picked up during a regular scan of the sky.

Get this working, and AI, and then we just need fusion to have the precursors for utopia in place. As long as we develop the social intelligence to not f*** it up.

We enlisted the help of the (Deep Space Network) and Radio Science groups to help to see if we could hear a signal from Voyager 2,” said Suzanne Dodd, Voyager’s project manager at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. “This was successful in that we see the ‘heartbeat’ signal from the spacecraft. So, we know the spacecraft is alive and operating. This buoyed our spirits.”
The signal, sent via the Deep Space Network, is basically an attempt to “shout” at Voyager 2 and try to get its attention, despite the fact that its antenna isn’t oriented in a way to receive the radio signal, according to NASA.
Given the distance between Voyager 2 and Earth, it takes about 18.5 hours for the signal to travel one way across the solar system to the spacecraft.
If the Earth-based signals don’t reach Voyager 2, the spacecraft is already programmed to reorient itself multiple times a year to keep its antenna pointing in Earth’s direction. The next reset was already scheduled for October 15, and the team is hopeful that this program will allow communications to resume with Voyager 2.
How the Voyager probes keep going and going decades after launch
“But that is a long time to wait, so (we) will try sending up commands several times prior to that date,”
It's alive!

Voyager 2 is so far away from Earth that it would take roughly 18.5 hours for light to reach it from Earth. For context, light from the sun takes about 8 minutes to reach Earth.

There seem to be only claims of it not being possible to replicate superconductivity of LK99. Only one or two properties.
Are the only positive claims from simulation?
