Grosjean crashes on one of his warm up laps.

Don't see that everyday.

They will race but they'll do a bunch of laps under safety car to help clear off the track. The cars help disperse the water.

But yeah visibility sucks when it is wet.

Jesus watching that Manor barreling towards Kimi's car at 200kph (or whatever). Scary stuff.

Wow I couldn't imagine spending $500 on a ticket only to get to watch a few laps of real racing.

They better race or those people are gonna be pissed. They deserve their money back.

Edit: nm we are gonna race.

But heavier rain predicted.

Edit2: turned out to be a pretty decent race for the last 25 or 30 laps since the restart. Max with some absolutely mind blowing overtakes.

Oughh!!.....

Super frustrating start to this "Race".

The most poignant and terrifying comment was regarding the red flags setting a precedent. I couldn't agree more. Had they decided to actually stop the race, which at one point Sebastian Vettel wanted them to do, it would have had seriously damaging ramifications for every race from this day forward. Thank goodness Charlie and whom ever else was in charge of these decisions shot the puck and let them race!

After the last red flag the racing was amazing. I can't say enough about Mad Max, Oh my was he on fire. As mentioned during the race, The kid is not piloting his ride on experience but rather pure skill. He showed amazing courage incredible talent coming from 14th all the way up to 3rd. I'm just disappointed he didn't have enough time to get past Nico.....Nico, who is in a huge amount of debt with Lady Luck.

The retirement of Massa was sad and disappointing, but what an amazing outpouring of gratitude from the fans and even more tear inducing was the respect from the teams down pit lane, it was a perfect circumstance being the pit entry lane was closed. I've never seen anything like that before.

So, 12 points separate Nico and Lewis. Interesting.

And regarding Sebastian......."Honestly".

Wow, that was a weird one. They absolutely had to try to run the race though, otherwise it would just be giving up of driving in the rain. Would not be good precedent.

I'm not much of a fan of Max, but wow. It was like he was driving another class of car. Him and Riciardo should have been fairly even, but hey had something else.

Was really hoping Rosberg would get caught further down the order to make it more interesting for the finale.

Ahead of next weekends race, here's what Nico needs to do to secure the championship;

Title permutations
  • If Hamilton wins Rosberg needs to be third or better to be champion.
  • If Hamilton is second, Rosberg needs to be sixth or better. If Rosberg was seventh, he and Hamilton would be tied on points, but Hamilton would be champion by having more third places (four to two).
  • If Hamilton is third, Rosberg needs to be eighth or better.
  • If Hamilton is fourth, Rosberg is champion no matter where he finishes. A non-score for Rosberg would leave them tied on points, but the German would take the title based on having more second places (four to three).

Canadian GP tickets finally go on sale this Thursday at 9am.

Hopefully that means they worked out their issues with Bernie.

That's about 3 months later than usual for the presale.

^ good stuff, I know when the 2017 schedule was released earlier there was an asterisk beside Montreal, That race needs to stay!!

Again, ahead of this weekends events, F1.COM put together a great series of short videos which shows the drama and run-ins Nico and Lewis have had over the last few years.

Hamilton wins qualifying, so this should make for at least the hope of some excitement tomorrow. Not a huge fan of this circuit, but maybe something fun will happen. Mostly looking froward to new cars next season at this point.

Love how Crofty rips on Ted Kravitz all the time. "and now down to a man who never goes anywhere fast, Ted".

OK so the secret to exciting Formula One races is to tell the lead Mercedes driver to go one second slower per lap then he's capable of.

I don't have any major problems with Lewis slowing up a bit as a strategy but I really didn't like his comments towards the end there. The team radio comments. Something about we've lost the championship so who cares about who wins the race. Poor sport. Always has been.

Here's looking forward to next year.

Sad to see Massa and Button retire. Both great drivers.

Touching to see Nico get so emotional on the podium. Good for him. I hope him and Lewis keep their rivalry sporting. They are both very good drivers.

Gutted to see Button go out like that.

Shocked they didn't fix the car for him to run the last few laps.

That was a slow burn. To bad the last race isn't somewhere with good passing.

Curious how the Mercedes boys handle things next year.

Agree, to bad about Button.

The circuit should be better for overtaking and I don't get why it's not.

My suggestion would be to adjust the track to remove the chicane before the hairpin and add a third DRS zone on the run up to it. They have toyed with the idea of making the final race 'special' (think double points) in the past. That might do the trick.

Thought for 2017: I haven't seen overall car dimensions reported anywhere. My worry is that an increase in tyre width on the same care will make some tracks excessively narrow. Monaco, Spa and Suzuka come to mind. Can anyone confirm this?
