Brad did say that things got quite emotional on both sides when Gaudreau finally revealed that he had decided to test the market. He also said that there was no chance that Gaudreau would sign with the Flames today. Maybe things were said that made a reconciliation impossible.

Or maybe he really dislikes playing for Sutter, in spite of what Gaudreau's dad said.

Gotta be closer to 20... Not sure flames would have turned down 11x8. Lost a lot of respect for John Gaudreau today.

Calgary must be one of the least desirable locations to play

What the ****?

I understand if it’s Philly or NJ. This? This is just infuriating.

This is the only reasonable explanation.
Just swallow your pride and call BT back you idiot. Fire your agent, blame him and save face with the fans, come back to Calgary on 7X10.

So so stupid

Since it seems that there is lots of numbers going around that have proven to be false, who knows what Calgary actually offered him?

I'm skeptical on everything.

And I think it shows he wanted out of Canada.

He was apparently offered 7x12 by Columbus

Hopefully took less so Columbus can afford Monnys contract

Wow, very surprised. It is in the East and be a lot less travel. Likely ended up being the Eastrrn team with the most money. Patrick Laine will like this a lot.

nah, this doesn't hurt me one bit. On the contrary, I think it's hilarious. He takes less money, ####s on his legacy, doesn't even get to go home (which was his priority, wasn't it) ... and he goes to Columbus. Lol. I didn't expect this to turn into something funny, but all I can do is laugh at this.

I really believe this is about signing bonuses. I bet this deal is very heavy in bonuses

I don't think its pressure or a desire to win thing. I think he felt slighted by management here and the other irons in the fire didn't pan out.

Family decision doesn't mean 'closer to home.' There are other things that could be going on as well.

But still, makes zero sense.

I think it is clear that he has no will to win. Gutless even.
