I donít see how the extra year on Lucic over Erickson warrants the 8th overall pick. I think the Canucks get the better young player (Puljujarvi over Juolevi), a slightly higher pick, and a Dman for a forward they donít need. Sounds like they would prefer Lucic to Erickson so those other minor upgrades justify the extra year on the Lucic deal.

I still think Juolevi ends up a better player than Pullanrv

Haven't we learned never to write off ex Oilers? I believe the opposite of your take. I think pool party is going to be a stud winger for the new team he plays for after getting traded.

Well Edmonton says no to the original deal so taking out the 10th wouldnít do anything.

It's not bad for us. Give up 26th overall for Puljuarvi and to swap Neal for Erikkson while saving money. I would do that in a second actually. Puljujarvi's value is probably a 2nd by himself so to increase it to a late 1st to save money and get an upgrade on Neal seems pretty sweet.

Vancouver gets 2 valuable picks that fit their window.

Everyone's unhappy, and everyone solves a lingering problem.

I'd rather we use our pick elsewhere and give Neal one more year. I think we've only seen the lowest of lows with Neal. He was looking pretty good post injury when he came back for that last stretch of regular season games. He absolutely sucked in the playoffs because he couldn't keep up with the speed of the Avs. But then again, everyone else was playing garbage so that didn't help either. Point stands though, I think we desperately either need to use our 1st round pick to restock the cupboards with a good B+ prospect, or use it to upgrade a position on the ice. I don't see that with Eriksson.

I tend to agree. Last season could be an anomaly.

I like the trade. I think Puljujarvi is salvageable - whoever we pick at 26 will have the same risks. Save a bit of cap space too.

Neal will bounce back. Commodore (on spitting chiclets) had some interesting comments about him (apparently they hang out), and Neal was broken down after two tough, long seasons. Expected a monster off season and back to normal next season. Neal was very disappointed with himself and took full responsibility - apparently had no off season training before training camp.

So don’t sell low - yet.

I donít like hearing that an older player (or any player for that matter) partook in no offseason training.

Also, since when has Commodore become a voice of truth? Lately the guy has been less reliable than eklund as a hockey insider. Not sure I would put a modicum of trust in what hes saying.

If Puljujarvi was worth a 2nd round pick he probably would have been traded already. Maybe in three or four years he will mature into a salvageable NHL player but the guy really isn't that good and seems to have issues grasping the concepts of North American hockey and coaching as he hasn't been able to play in the NHL or AHL. In a lot of ways he's similar to Yakupov who's a guy that was a good junior player but can't play in the NHL.

So the Oilers are going to somehow agree to trade Lucic + JP + 2nd round pick for Neal?

Not only that, but help out 2 division rivals?

Commodore likes to throw all sorts of #### against the wall, itís true, but when it comes to James Neal he definitely knows what heís talking about. They have been long-time friends. Commodore broke Nealís signing last summer; they were golfing together when it happened.

Pretty much. It will take accepting a deal that bad just to offload Lucicís terrible, terrible contract. How else would they manage to move him?

It won't take that much not with also taking a bad contract back.

I do have time for Neal though as I think he has a big bounce back year next year.
