If possible, could someone move Wheeler from centre to right wing? I don't think that I have OCD, but seeing him listed as a centre might give it to me.

2023 5th round pick.

Not bad for a waiver pick-up. He did get a good re-rate. I had waived him a couple of times prior to the re-rates. Need to make room, since I have a lot of depth d-men who rated from 65 to 67

Really hated giving up Dach, he will be good, but needed a good backup and also a long term plan in goal and I think Georgiev can be that.

Pick up someone for my top 6. Mayfield unfortunately got hit on the overall re-rate, though his specific ratings per skill/item are solid. I expect him to get a better re-rate next year. He would have dropped to my third pairing though. This way, I pick up someone who can play in my middle six as well as be a big part of my PK.

trying to trade Connor Brown was one of the more interesting experiences I've had. I thought I'd have no trouble moving him, given that he has been a reliable player in Ottawa for a few years now, re-rated well and is still RFA aged. Yet, I talked to 5 or 6 different GMs over the past few weeks and, in a nutshell, they all had the same answer: "I really like him and want to add him, but ..." I really like him too, but I just have too many wingers and at some point needed to move resources to different positions. I wanted a late 1st or early 2nd for him and couldn't bring one in ahead of the draft, but in the end, I am happy with adding a solid defenseman that I like plus a decent pick, albeit in a future draft.

thanks to agulati for the talks!

Had too many echlers. I just drafted Brennan and Barbashev last week with picks 68 & 92. I wasn't too attached to Brennan but goalies are always hard to predict, Barbashev is hard to place, still think he could end up being a steal. Will see where they end up going in the nhl draft next week.

Pick up a good starting goalie. Picking up a lot of forwards around the draft (Stamkos, RNH, Connor Brown) dropped Hayes to the third line. Had been excited to have him on the roster, but would rather use that cap space on a starting goaltender. Thanks for the talks, Calgary!

Zach Sanford and Girgensons come to WSH for a pair of 4th Round picks. Hoping they can support our core forwards this upcoming season

I like Gurianovs rebound potential, but I needed a center and like Wennberg as a middle six C. Thanks to Don't Toews Me Bro for the talks!

To ANA: Ryan Hartman, 2024 5th, $2m
To NYR: Lukas Dostal, Wyatt Kalynuk, Anton Olsson

similarly to Brown, I imagined moving Hartman would be a lot easier - but I guess some GMs felt his breakout season was an outlier, plus people cling on to draft picks as if they were diamonds right now, so it wasn't easy to get value. I like that package though. Goalies are voodoo, but Dostal has some upside and might be NHL ready soon. Olsson was a 3rd rounder last year and has already played over 80 games in the SHL, so I feel that's a decent addition to the prospect pool too.

thanks to simmer for the talks!

I wanted to add a middle six winger to the fold and Hartman fit the bill.

We had some extra bodies in our AHL, especially at goalie and defense.

I quite like Dostal and think he has a lot of upside, but with Vejmelka and Knight there, Dostal felt like he could go.

I drafted Olsson and I liked his rights are held by the Preds who are great at developing dmen.

Kalynuk is a weird one. I quite liked him, he had a good yr two yrs ago but last year not as much. But still has potential and skates like the wind.

Thanks devo for the talks.

Wild acquire Timo Meier for Alex Newhook, Filip Mesar and Maverik Lamoureux

I wanted to upgrade my second slide and in turn upgrade the 3rd, which this accomplishes.

I like Newhook but the other two guys weren't guys I specifically targeted in the draft, and I needed to start to cash in some prospect capital due to roster limits.

Wild acquire Jack Hughes for Hischier, Slafkosky, Lucius and some $

I think I'm paying up here but I think Hughes is on the verge of going nuclear. So when I caught wind of him being available, I jumped at it.
